seekers-for-jesus coverINTRODUCTION

We live in a world of ardent seekers. And truly, this Universe is seeker’s habitat. Take a look round about you and you will see men and women, running to and fro of the Universe, in quest of that which they believe would bring them some satisfaction. They want joy, they want riches, they want protection and pleasure; and yea, they eagerly seek out for that which their souls long after.  Even many who attend our religion meetings do so to get solutions to their diverse beclouding troubles and not out of passion for the true, living God.  We all are seekers. Yes, all men are seekers. Everyone seeks for something or somebody. Even though many seekers couldn’t identify what they seek after.

Chapter 1

KINDS OF SEEKERS

“The people… also took shipping, and came… SEEKING FOR JESUS…and… found Him on the other side of the sea…” (Jhn. 6:24-25).

In this habitat called universe are different kinds of seekers, who seek either for realities or shadows. This habitation is roamed daily by countless people who seek for pleasures or excitement, for power or fame or fortunes. While a number of humans seek for certain mystic beings or Satan to acquire wealth, powers, prowess or popularity; a few devotedly seek for the Lord Jesus for reasons so varied.

Seeker for Pleasures

Let’s me talk to you first of certain millions, who are seekers for worldly pleasures. These seek for carnal satisfaction and pleasures, craving after all the wild glamour the flesh power does offer. Think of those many thousands who invest their entire life in the race for games of pleasures and lusts! They readily go the way of “the lust of eye, lust of flesh …” But Jesus warned that all seekers for fleshly pleasures; all seekers who freely satisfy the lusts of the flesh; all seekers who make their boast and sing self-indulgence “shall have their part in the lake that burns with brimstones and fire”.

Aren’t you one of them, friend? But why do you wantonly live in pleasure on the earth? Why do you nourish your heart as in a day of slaughter? Why did you condemn and kill the just in order to have your desired pleasure? Oh, dear friend, the judgment of God is at your door step.

All seekers for carnal pleasures are spiritual dogs. He who tramples his only life under the foot of drugs and sexual immorality is a dog. All such people shall be locked outside the gate of the heavenly golden city; for without are dogs, and sorcerers and whore mongers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.[Rev.22:15]

It saddens the heart of God that many acclaimed Christians are but dogs. That homes, worship places, streets and schools have become immoral joints for sexual pleasure seekers is heartbreaking! Think so deep of them! Many who flirt with incestuous practices! Several deeply immersed in the dirty ocean of fornication and adultery! And others who destroy homes and break marriages with adulterous acts! Apostle Paul warns us to beware of dogs.

What about the homosexuals, the lesbians and the bestial of this World? It is tragic that sodomy is taken over the world stage today. The gays as seekers seek for the abominable sexual pleasures. Oh, what ignoble seekers these are? Aren’t these damned seekers for the earthly pleasures in a class of their own? These seekers who boldly seek for the detestable ephemeral even at the expense of their souls must be daring God. It is certain that none of blind seekers will escape the sword of His divine judgment.

Oh friend, all seekers for carnal pleasures are miserable seekers. Aren’t you also seeking for abnormal sexual pleasures and temporal glories of this age, at the expense of eternity? Why must belong to the class of those who earnestly seek for things which cannot “endureth unto everlasting life?” (Jhn. 6:33). We’ve got to watch! Seeking for the earthly at the expense of the heavenly is glooming for the soul.

Dear reader, you will be wiser to take heed to the Master’s admonition, which enjoins us to “seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness. And all other things shall be added unto us”. (Matt. 6:33). Listen, giving your heart to “… surfeiting and drunkenness and cares of this life” is a doomed thing that carries damned, eternal consequences. Oh, it is one thing to seek and find what you have been hunting after. Yet, it is another thing to enjoy it when it is found. If peace and satisfaction do not accompany that which you sought for and found, you would only end up in regret and miseries.

And to me, it is a dilemma of vain seeking, for men to passionately seek for what they thought would bring great joy in life, and still end in real misery after it is found.

Are you a true believer in Christ? You need to urgently put all close watch upon your life’s ambitions and pursuits. You need to watch and pray. Lest you also be counted a vain seeker. Certainly, “he that liveth in pleasure is dead while alive!

Seekers for Excitement

The world is filled with thousand enthusiastic, ambitious people, who seek for the excitement of new things everyday. Who are these?

Seekers for excitement are egoistic class of people, who walk daily the streets of our cities with air of superiority. Being motivated by status, materialism and best style of clothing, these men and women of arrogance like to feel important everywhere.

Seekers for excitement are a kind of attention seekers, who seek for greater things but hardly contribute any of their own. They constantly seek to learn new initiatives, start new projects, and meet new people, though rarely accomplish anything meaningful.

Seekers for excitement hate tight deadlines and restrictive practices. Though they claim to love ideas and principles.

Seekers for excitement are a class of unorganized people, so difficult to pin down. They are entertainment lovers; social, lively, talkative.

Yet, these classy excitement seekers need Jesus in their lives. Why? The world is a real battle field, not fitted for proud day dreamers; a land of sojourning, never a dancing hall they assume; a palace for destiny fulfillment, and not a curious sporting stadium; a place of action, and not of frivolity.

Walking in this world without Jesus is wandering in the dark underworld. You never see into reality until Jesus comes into your life.

Also, my dear excitement seeker, you are only as important as your positive contributions to other people’s lives and the society. Your superiority complex is a destructive spirit in whose captivity you groan. And your deliverance from it is a must if you must fulfill your mission on earth. You need deliverance from the captivity of pride and its demons.

Meekness, humility, contentment and Godliness are the greatest secret of greatness. And you can discover these only in JESUS.

Seekers for Fortunes

This group seems to be the most populous and most desperate of all. They include all men who passionately engage in the scramble for affluence. The world has gone wild in her pursuit of wealth and riches. Mammon, the god of greed and avarice now rule over lives and Nations. Even many who claim to be citizens of Christ kingdom are being possessed and driven by mammon.

As a result, contentment has become a lost virtue in today’s world. And all the rush for materialism, wealth, and worldly glories are killing true love, brotherliness and godliness. Indeed, “the love of money is the root of all evils”!

Are you also involved in the mad rush for the wealth and affluence? But you’ve got to turn and seek the true riches?  Your present accumulation level of the material wealth is high, and its love has been your boast. However, all your ill-gotten fortunes are poisonous virus for your miseries.

All ill-gotten wealth is a time bomb, an explosive for the destruction of the rich fools. Listen to James, the apostle:

Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the labourers… which is of you kept back by fraud crieth: and the cries of them…have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. [Jms.5:1-4]

So, your mad race for materialism is destined to end on the shore of vanity! So the ruin will surely come, now or latter! Stop! Turn now! It is your time to buy gold-refined from the Lord, that you may be truly rich.

Seeker for Power and Prominence

Other kind of worldly seekers are those who seek for power and popularity. In today’s world, hunger for political offices is becoming a giant monster. To satisfy their hunger, desperate politicians heartlessly embark on evils voyage of satanic rituals and diabolical covenanting.

It is both evil and self-centered for leaders to stoop down into the dark coven of Satanism, occult, cultism, and witchcraft. It is wickedness to practice sexual rituals, human rituals or blood bathing because you want power and position. Today, to perpetuate themselves in power, many political leaders feed on human flesh and blood; bath with the human blood and committed many other evils. The tragedies facing many nations today have their roots this spiritual wickedness.

Your passion for power and fame needs be tamed, lest divine woes become the necessary end. Let every evil ruler hear this and tremble. All who recklessly seek for power and popularity at the expense of their posterity and eternity are meant for divinely sent woes.

Do you think of your end when you frame innocent citizens to get fame and make pawn of friends get power?  Do you ponder of what will become of your posterity when seek for the satanic to get power and fame at all cost?

It is a saying that power intoxicates those who have it. Yet, in any game of power play, God is always the factor to reckon with. God often wait at a junction so hard to know. When you get to that junction as an oppressor of the masses, God cannot but strikes you with His sword of justice. Tell those wicked leaders and oppressive politicians that God isn’t asleep. He strikes to reward every oppressor, and his posterity with their appointed woes.

God must soil the spoils of evil and greedy leaders while judging them. None can escape God’s long Arm of justice. Hello, my dear oppressors of the masses, God’s mighty Arm will soon catch up with you. He will come near to you to judgment, and…be a swift witness against…those that oppress. [Mal 3:5].

Seekers for Darkness

How secular humanism is taking up the civic world should baffle all whoa are born of the Spirit. We should be concerned how unbelieving people recklessly run and passionately pioneer a new order of conformist mindset, all over the globe?

Today, Satanism goes on a fast spread. It is shocking to see how Satan is strategically evangelizing the world. Indeed, cultism is devil’s fishing bait.

The growth of modern Satanism since 1956, when the church of Satan was founded was baffling. Propagating Satan as the god of light is a mind blinding mission that could only be conquered by the flooding waves of the Holy Spirit.

Devils’ disciples are frantically recruiting men and women for the old Serpent, and thousands of Jesus disciples are busy fighting for titles and fortunes. What a pity! Satanically inspire troops are joining forces to halt the gospel spread and the church occupies herself daily with irrelevant programs. Dark evangelism is growing fast and wide, and believers in Christ pretend not to know.

In Nigeria, youths have been the target of such satanic recruitment mission. In Holland, several secret movements are desperately recruiting new members, especially the students. They all have one goal: to eclipse the age of Christianity with an age of Lucifer. Why do you think Satanists boldly designed the inverted cross, and the horned goat of Mendes as symbols? It was to provoke a black mockery of Christ redemptive Cross.

I personally believe God loves all sinners, including all cultists, New Agers, all in the dark covens. His heart still bleeds for them. Yes, He loves to save them. The Christ died for the reason of saving all men.

You and I who have been washed and redeemed by the blood of Jesus are the vessels He chose to use to reach out with the Gospel to get them.  But when will the Church awake from her deep sleep? When shall we vacate our comfort zone of ‘prosperity’ to accomplish His great commission of global evangelization?  There is urgent need for revival in today’s Church. It’s been long since tides of coldness have overflowed our spiritual fervency. We’ve got to quit the unprofitable game of in-activeness for the Lord.

The Church must stop her dancing to the wild music of greed and materialism. Believers are relenting in our evangelistic fervor because the flaming seal {the burning passion for aggressive evangelism} is dying out.

It is time to rescue the lost from Satan’s inner prison. It is time to employ the God’s given Spirit strategy for aggressive evangelism campaigns. Only power evangelism will gloriously outmatch the present satanic missions on earth.

But the finest of all seekers are those who seek for the only living God who made heaven and earth. We shall consider this in the next chapter.

Chapter 2

SEEKERS FOR GOD

Let’s now talk of yet another kind of seekers: Seekers for God. Socrates in his soulish wisdom cried; “Oh, that someone would arise, man or god, to show us God”. Men souls crave for God. We are all seekers for Him who made us in His own image.

Man’s religion instinct makes him to yearn after God. His search for the true God has lead to the founding of many religions, to the making of various idols, and establishment of secret cults, occult, witchcraft and lodges. It has lead to men worship of idols, fallen angels or demons.

But why does religious man seeking for his Maker ended up with idolatry?  The reason they could not find Him lies in their rejection of Jesus, the only Way Father. You can’t find God through the back door. No, never!

Yet, the greater tragedy is this: the religious man, having found his demon gods and idols often, mistaken them as envoys of the living God. And the folly of this tragedy is the major ground for religion proliferation.

It is on this basis you consider all sorts of seekers within the Islam, Hindus, Jehovah witnesses, 7th day Adventists, Mormonism, freemasons, Amorc, fraternities and Christian Science, among others.

What all men should know is that Jesus came as the Way to God, and not as founder of a new religion. Yet, many of these religion seekers are deep in their wild worship, in sheer spiritual blindness. Must these lifeless devotees be eternally damned?  They so much believed to be of God and to be seekers for Him. Yet, many of them are His raging enemies.

But do we care to know that these wonderful, beautiful worshipers are honest seekers trapped in between certainty and uncertainty? It is a pity that many of them have been deceived into evil, dark, obsessive, or violent associations, by which they now trouble the world.

Could men of honest search for Jesus, the Light be captured by darkness? Yes, if they go through any other routes save the Christ. Only His Cross pointed men to the God. Jesus is the only Way to Him. It is utter spiritual ignorance and blindness to think you can find the true and living God through any other but Jesus. It is a disaster to be baited by such blindness.

Jesus came into this world to show us God. Unlike in the Old Testament, God is no longer an ambiguous presence. Jesus is the Logos, the Redeemer, the Message and the Saviour. He is the Word who was in the beginning, the Word who was with God, and the Word who was God. To know God, all you need to do is to look at Jesus. He is God incarnate. He is the all we need to know about God, being “the brightness of God’s glory, the express image of His person.” Heb.1:3

Will religious God seekers never come to bow at the feet of the Cross? The answer rests on our obedience to soul winning global commissions. Brethren, what is God saying about them and us?  He sends us to take the gospel to them, but have we? Will the blood of these ‘lost saints’ not be demanded from us, if they die without hearing the gospel? There is the urgent need for Holy Ghost fire revival for global evangelization. We need global visitation from the only God of all power!

Have you ever asked yourself where your own beautiful soul will end his journey? Would you answer for yourself where will be the eternal home of those faithful, aggressive Mohammed’s adherents, free thinkers, satanic ideologists, and Christian cultists, among others? Where would be the eternal home of heartless Islamic terrorists who have been violently destroying lives and properties, burn churches and villages all over the world?

Where will atheists and Leninist end their journey? Are they not all agents of Satan who propounded anti-Christ ideologies, with which they have darkens the world? Their anti-Christ ideological weapons, which indeed emanated from hell, have sent thousands into eternal blackness, and are still sending millions there.

Christian, you are born again and Spirit filled yet indifference to the task of soul winning. When will you let the Light of Liberty shine into the darken hearts of these lost men and women? When will the freedom that Christ purchased be delivered to the great multitudes in devil’s confinement? It is enough of your spiritual apathy. We are saved to save others. We must rise to be wise soul winners, on passionate global soul-winning invasions.

One thing I know: these souls, in regardless of their outward boasting and religious displays, are vivid yearning for deliverance and peace. Indirectly, they are seekers for God. Perhaps, they do not seek for Christ Jesus, and even hate Him with passion; perhaps, they boldly reject Him and heartlessly go after His followers; perhaps they go rather for spiritual powers, positions, wealth, or solution to their pressing problems! But where else can they find the true God, and have peace for their restless soul? Where could they, except in Jesus?  Jesus is the lone solution to life’s problems. He is the Giver of true life, good blessings, and lasting glory.

In this troubled world, Satan and his covens offer nothing but doom and deceit to those who trust and lean on them. Listen, he who follows folly is destined for uncertainty.  This lone fact is this: ‘Jesus Christ is the Only Answer’. And He is the only way to God, our Creator.

Oh, are you a member of a dark kingdom, cult or secret society? Do you seek for the helps of the evil kingdoms? Do you seek for solution and temporal satisfaction instead of Christ? If you want permanent joy, peace and satisfaction in life, you better seek for Christ, the Giver of all blessings. He’ll save and deliver you. He will wonderfully remake your marred destiny. Jesus longs to give you a brilliant future, if only you come to Him.

Chapter 3

WHY THEY SEEK FOR JESUS

Look around the globe. Most countries of today are filled with churches and synagogues. They are a conglomerating world of Jesus ardent seekers. The Church isn’t a place for those who feel they have nothing to do with Jesus, the Messiah. Within the wall of your church ought to be seekers for the King of Kings – JESUS CHRIST, and His values.

There are three kinds of Jesus seekers in every gospel church, namely; those who seek Him for bread and fishes, those who seek Him for the miraculous, and those who are drawn to Him by the Father. These aren’t seekers for Satan, gods, worldly pleasure, or ill-gotten wealth, or undue political power.

Painfully, most church goers are like those certain Greek worshipers who sought for Jesus to no avail. Thus, they approached Philip, saying: “Sir, we would see Jesus”. Ironically today, many seekers for Jesus within the walls of our Churches are yet to find Him. Majority of the multitudes who claim to have found Jesus have never met or known Him.

How would honest seekers find Jesus when preachers preach themselves, instead of Him! How would they, when many Christian gatherings have become so lukewarm, with no glow of the Spirit on the altar! How would they, when denominations are become vivid congregations of sinners and hypocrites!

Today’s church is becoming a world of confused seekers. That ministries and churches today are congregated with deceived, lost, frustrating wanderers, is dooming. These seekers “who have crossed the sea to this other side of the sea, with the hope of finding the Lord, ought to be lead to Him. Instead, they are being led into deeper dilemma by hirelings that have invaded the sacred altars of the Lord. Many of these frustrated seekers inwardly bleed because they could not find the LORD.

Isn’t it catastrophic that millions registered members of local churches still sought for Jesus to no avail? Will they not find and get to truly know Him? When will the freedom the KING died to offer them be delivered to them by we whom He sent?

Jesus loves them who seek for Him. He loves to win them all. JESUS was (and is) the greatest Seeker of all times. He was the Sovereign Seeker ever lived. He came in this globe to seek the lost and save them; to deliver captives of sins and Satan. Like the father of the prodigal, His heart is longing for your home-coming!

For Bread and Fishes

Why do you seek for Jesus? Why do men seek for Him?  In my own Biblical answer to this pertinent question, a larger populace of Jesus seekers throngs after Him for the perishable meat.  The search for food, cloth and shelter draw many after Him.  What do you think are responsible for the rush after Jesus in these last days?  Men and Women who are seeking for King Jesus have a kind of inward force propelling and pushing them after Him. You know that strong and primary reason that makes you a seeker for Christ. What kind of a seeker are you?  Why do you seek for Jesus?

Most people in this jet age seek for Jesus because they need ‘Manna from heaven’. They seek for Him to obtain portions of the perishable meat. This first group of Jesus seekers looks for the Christ to have their bellies filled with “the meat which perishes”.

Three times Jesus provided miracle bread and fishes for seekers. Twice He blessed the multitudes with the miracle loaves before His death. Once He baffled the eleven with miracle fishes, after His resurrection. And to you who are seeking Jesus to get His miracle of bread and fishes, Jesus answered …‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye seek me… because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Labour not for the meat which Perisheth…” {Jhn. 6:26-27.}

This class of seekers often consists of people who have heard, seen and perhaps come to believe Jesus as a great miracle Worker. They are ‘brethren’ in daily need more of His loaves and fishes. They want their bellies filled-up with the perishable meat of this life.

Many so-called gospel ministers are members of this group. They labour daily on the altar for what to eat and spend. Like Eli’s sons of Belial, they dupe and exploit sincere worshippers. But they cannot but reap corruption and vanity in the end.

Dearly beloved, you’ve got to stop labouring for the perishable meat. Check your heart’s topmost desire very deeply. Are you indeed a true believer in Christ? Are you truly born again? What is it that brought you to your present church? Why do you always love the Assemblies of those who turn God’s house to “a house of merchandise”? One thing still saddens the heart of God: the greed of many new generation ministers. His heart is being grieved the way many of today’s Churches are being ran.

See how so-called gospel servants recklessly run the ministry “with cloak of covetousness”. See how they make merchandise of the Lord’s people. Yet these servants of corruption claim to be preachers of liberty, but the Bible says, “Their damnation slumbereth not”. (II Pet. 2:3, 19)

And what can we say of their big followers? Well, properly evaluated; the overall picture is that of a lustful, rebellious, churchy people. We are in a generation of wild itching ears, who heap up “teachers for themselves; who teach them according to their own lusts.” Oh, what a prophetic church age that can no longer endure the sound teaching of THE WORD. Oh, what a sad story of ‘saints’ who “have turned away their ears from the truth unto fables”. (II Tim. 43-4).

But let me return to re-ask you that prodding question: ‘why are you seeking for Jesus?’ Isn’t it to grab your own portions of His miraculous loaves and fishes?  Isn’t to get manna from heaven? But turn your ears right to me now and hear: you can’t be friend of mammon and Child of God at same time. You cannot serve two masters. Never!

It is time you passionately seek for Christ, the TRUE BREAD from heaven. Turn now to the Father and let Him make a new leaf of you! Seek for the possession of the Life eternal in Christ Jesus. Come, eat His flesh and drink the blood and have His Life in you. Only those who feed on Jesus are true seekers. All others are but damned seekers.

Today, many suddenly ‘backslide’ into the sinning world. Many we hitherto thought to have been in Christ surprisingly withered away. ‘How come’ we often ask in pains? But you and I know the truth that when a branch separates itself from the Vine, it cannot but wither away and died. Separation from the Lord can only leads to barrenness.

But one other fact stands firm: many so-called branches have never been part of the Vine. All along, most of those backsliders have been of a wild olive tree and have never been grafted into Christ, the Vine.

But who is responsible for the falls away of those that have once been grafted in?

Often, when we see ‘a believer’ turning away suddenly from the way, we mistakenly rush to the conclusion that Satan and his evil hosts must be at work. While we can’t really deny this, there is more to a total answer.

The Fruitful Word

Consider Christ’s parable in Mathew 7:24-27.  Heavy storms and floods can only bring down a house that is not founded upon the rock. You can’t build your house on sands and claim ‘eternal security’. In fact, you are only as secured as chaff in the winds. When Satan’s flying demons come; when spiritual scorching sun of persecutions arises; when tribulations, thorns of deceitfulness of riches and pleasures of this world arise: it is sure that any houses founded on sands will fall flat.

But, if your heart is a good soil and you are solidly rooted in Christ, you will triumph where others stumble. It is always a tragedy when ‘a Christian’s heart is ‘a way side’, or a hardened ‘rock’, or lives among ‘the thorns’. So be well rooted in Christ and stop being a bread and butter church goer. He who won’t fall must have enough roots in Christ. Those who have sufficient root in Jesus live in Him, by Him and for Him.

“For in Him we live, and move and have our being… for we are also His offspring. (Acts 17:28)”

Friend, you’ve got to taste Him and know how wonderful it is to have His life reigning in one’s life. Your affections, goals, desires, will and ambitions should be nailed to His Cross. In turn, His life, beauty, blessings and glory should resurrect in you. This is what enables one to endure till the end.

Some believers turn away at the place of “a hard saying” They cry; “who can hear it?” (Read John 6:60-66). And who can truly hear it save the Lord’s elects! Christ’s elects are wedded and loyal to Him. His words are their delightful meal and pleasure.

But surface believers can never cross the line of “a hard saying”.  They do not have what it takes to swallow “the spirit and the life” of the WORD. No revelation encounter. There is no place in their hearts of carnal believers for His words and wills. For them, hearing, understanding, believing and continuing in the WORD is too hard a thing. This is one major reason many ‘Christians’ today decamp from one church to another. They wanted self-pleasing, watery messages that glorify mammon and human wisdom. And to get such they wander about searching to buy from those who sell it. The truth they hated is too much a fire for their stony hearts. And to their advantage, blazing truths are rare gold in these our days.

It’s a case of lifeless ‘Christians’ hiring like preachers to tell what they love to hear. Anything outside ‘the meat’ doctrine is unacceptable. They’ve not cease from tempting God in their hearts, insisting for meat: “Saying, can God furnish a table in the wilderness?” [Psm. 78:18-19].

But these vain seekers have forgotten that: “Life is more than meat” [ Lk 12:23].

Friend, delight in eating the flesh and drinking the blood of Jesus. This you must do to have the eternal life in you. Life and abundant life is only in Christ Jesus.

All those who seek for Jesus to eat of the perishable meat are vain seekers. Such false seekers are no seekers at all. Bread and fishes packages are God’s added goodies for all true seekers. Stop being vain seeker. You can be true seeker for Christ. True seekers “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matt. 6:33).

The tragedy of contemporary Christianity is that over 90% of our acclaimed “seekers for Jesus” aren’t true seekers. Many are greedy hunters for ‘bread and fishes’ packages, and not Jesus Christ.

Is it any wonder that kingdom mindedness and holiness are becoming outdated tenets of faith?  He who preaches and practices kingdom gospel are counted for a strangers; sometimes more than the strange itself.

Dearly beloved, if you truly need eternal rest for your gentle soul, I implore you to come out of this endtime mixed-multitude now! This is the time to be separated from them. In this eleven hour, every sincere believer should be distinct and highly distinguished!

“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separat saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. (2 Cort. 6:17).

Chapter 4

THE THINGS WHICH JESUS DID

Seekers for healing and miracles are the second group of seekers for Jesus. Miracles are the works of God. They are the things that Jesus did and still do.

“The many… which came…, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on Him…And many resorted unto Him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spoke of this man were true. And many believed on Him there”.(Jhn. 11:45; 10:41-42).

Jesus clearly remarked that many will not believe unless they see signs and wonders: “Then said Jesus unto him, except ye see signs and wonders,

 Ye will not believe”. (Jhn. 4:48).

God, therefore, works miracles principally to draw souls to Christ. Each time you see God’s hand performing the miraculous, please believe in and get closer to Him. Jesus works miracle that men might believe in Him:“If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not”. (Jhn. 10:37)

Yet, many are up there that hardened their hearts in spite the workings of God’s miraculous. Hear me, friend. Those who do so are walking in the pathway of eternal woes. Don’t do it. It is dangerous. It’s greatly damning seeing God at work and yet refuses believing in Christ. You may not have another opportunity. God works miracles to save souls. He’s never in a show business. The works of miracle actual bore witness that Jesus came from the Father. (Jhn. 5:33-41).

To the glory of God, many people in the Christian-fold today were caught by God’s miracle working power. And several are still being caught. These men and women have seen or experienced His touch of miracle and, in positive response, have given their hearts to Jesus Christ. God is still using this mighty evangelistic bait to catch men today. The things (miracles) that Jesus did, and does, still make many to believe on Him.

In the days of Christ’s earthly ministry, even His very enemies and persecutors never deny His power and works of miracles. In fact, they finally came to realize how urgent they need to stop Him. Following His raising of Lazarus from the dead, many Jews believed on Jesus. Consequently, the Pharisees, when the saw that “the world is gone after Him”, perceived their own failure and plotted evil against the Christ and Lazarus.

“But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.” (John. 12:10-11).

Miracles are God’s fishing baits. When He worked those great, unusual miracles through the early Apostles, the glorious result was that they “turned the world upside down”.

Miracles make the Lord’s kingdom to be greatly enlarged. Without doubt, we who are the last Army of Christ need the same miracle-working power of God to triumph in the venture of final harvesting.

However, it is quite unfortunate that by the working of miracles, mini-god preachers are busy raising their own kingdoms. Many miracle-recipients of our days worship the man vessel God used for them. The irony of the matter is that many of these worshipers are made to believe and claim to be worshiping God. You yourself can see this trend in our days. What an absurd that ‘miracle workers’ and ‘faith healers’ should play God!

Having been consumed with pride of affluent and seeming glory, some ministers of the gospel now point worshipers to themselves, not to Christ. And this is the reason many that are being brought into the Christendom by miracles often fall-out with Christ. They too, cannot endure the gospel hard sayings.

Perhaps, you too always throng after men for signs and wonders, rather than Christ, our Lord and Saviour!  You so much desire seeing the miraculous demonstration of the supernatural rather than the Word!

Like the children of Israel, many converted people soon “forget His works and His wonders” (Psm 78:11). Why? Their hearts soon become married to lusts, and like the rebellious Israelis that “set not their hearts aright”, they too become “a people whose spirit was not steadfast with God” [Psm. 78:8].

Is your heart right with God? How steadfast is your spirit with Him? You will need to set your heart aright and steadfast, to be fruitful in the Lord. If you make your heart a good soil, the seed of glory will be fruitful in you. But if you fail, you remain unprofitable in the things of the Spirit.  You must set your heart right to win heaven as your eternity.

All who are drawn after Christ by the working of miracles must know this truth: “Miracle is just God’s fishing bait”. And my counsel to all such people is this: The moment you are caught in, yield your life over to Christ and be totally grafted into Him. Be sure you truly know Him more by revelation. Abide in Him!

Jesus demands that all who seek for Him truly come to find Him; that those who find him actually come to know Him; that all who know Him practically grow to abide in Him; and that every one that dwell in Him faithfully follow  to worship and serve Him. Tragedy always occurs when we fail to complete the circle.

I want you to think deeper, dear friend reader. You also might have been brought into your church by the bait of miracle. But have you truly turn over your life to Jesus? Are you genuinely born again or you have been playing religion all along? Are you worshiping Christ or the ‘miracle working’ Vessel He used for you? Please, stop being carried away by those miraculous acts you’ve been seeing through His human vessels. Stop your soul from going farther from your Maker and Lord. Whatever miracles on display should point you to the Lord Almighty.

Therefore, watch your search for miracle. And stop your worship of ‘miracle workers’. Worshipers of human ‘gods’ aren’t true worshipers. Watch how you follow man, and prayerfully follow anyone that worth the salt. You’ve got to prayerfully watch. That famous ‘anointed’ fellow may have gotten his ‘anointing’ outside of the Holy Spirit.

The ways and ministries many contemporary preachers need be watch. There are fake prophetesses and occult prophets in towns. Many herbalists have turned to white dressed riverside priests and priestess, and several cultists are now ‘gospel’ actors. They knew nothing about being born-again, and are not regenerate. Some are simply devil’s agents, sent to deceive and ruin genuine Christianity.

Any serious believers will have no link with those herbalists, Alfas, Star-telling preachers, and fraternity pastors that erecting their ‘gospel’ altars in our land. Like witches, wizards and Emere; they operate to draw men in to strange covenant with Satan and yoke them with more troubles. Even, their so-called ‘deliverance and miracle’ meetings are simple demonic bait. Run, friend, before they bring you into greater captivity.

How do I mean? It is dangerous seeking for their miracle. No sooner you get such ‘miracles’ than you are loaded with heavier problem and afflictions. There is no free gift from the devil. And, the worst of all is this: you may still have to live together with them in the lake of fire. What great reasons for you to flee far from them!

Beloved, the only place of lasting miracle is Jesus Christ. All others perform nothing but magic. Christ is the only solid foundation to lean on. You can’t afford to Stand on any other ground; all others are sinking grounds. They sink men into the dark, chaotic dungeon of life.

Come, friend. Touch the bleeding side of Christ today. Give it a touch of faith and the mighty wind of His Holy Spirit will blow away those problems out of your life.

Seeking for Jesus only to get miracle is also another vanity of the seeker. It is a miserable thing to get miracle and be out of union with Christ, the only true miracle Worker.

Chapter 5

DRAWN BY THE FATHER

The third kind of seekers for Jesus consists of those drawn by the Father. Of this group, Jesus said: “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him…” (Jhn. 6:44).It is therefore of paramount importance that to come to Jesus, seekers must first learn of the Father. This was the truth Jesus expounded in John 6: 45, when He said:

… Every man therefore that hath heard and hath

learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Seekers for Christ must learn to submit to the loving Hand of the Father, to find Him: …Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come

unto me except it were given unto him of my Father. (Jhn. 6:65).

We must learn of God’s love, mercy and grace. Hearing with teachable heart is the key to learning of the Father’s love.  Understanding God’s “much love” and His “grace that saves”, through the atoning death of His Son, is foundational to getting save. (Jhn. 3:14-17).

The fact is: without God’s great mercy and grace, none of us will get to heaven. It is thus disastrous to be destitute of God’s mercy and saving grace. No matter our human desire, zeal, efforts, exploits and righteousness, we simply need the Lord’s “great grace” to get save and spend eternity with Him in heaven. Fortunately, we all can be saved; “justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”. (Rom. 3:24)

It is written in the WORD, that God’s mercy shall be built up ever. His grace has appeared to all men; and all it needs for appropriation is faith from the individual. You must believe to grab God’s saving grace for your personal appropriation.

“Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law” Rom. 3:28.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God” (Eph. 2:8).

Dearly beloved, God’s mercy, grace and love are for you. It is a gift given at Calvary; for all who dare to believe. Faith activates divine packages of grace. So, let your heart yield to Christ by faith. To be married to His great, marvelous grace faith must be in force. His mercy is free and eternal. But faith is the power that switches on the light.

Seekers drawn by the Father are the finest of all seekers. Why? Love is their only reason for seeking for Jesus. They’re been won by the Father’s love and are falling in love with the Saviour. Christ great, magnetic love draws them closer to Him every day.

Among all Jesus seekers, these are the greatest of all. Why? First, when others must have reason to return, these, drawn by the Father’s love, would have none. We saw this truth explained in John six. You remember when those multitudes of His disciples got to the point of hard truth, “they all went back… walking no more with Him” (Vs. 66).

Don’t forget that a part of them became seekers for Jesus because of “bread and fishes”, while another thronged after Him for signs and wonders. In the end, out of the over 70 disciples, only 12 remained. In one word, only these twelve were those drawn by the Father.

Listen to me, friend. Every believer in Christ has this great question to ask his or her soul: “O you my soul, how far can you go with Christ?” Lift up your eyes! Look well around. Many who were in Christ before you no longer walk with Him.  They were once strong and zealous disciples of Jesus, but now run the wild world. They, like several before them, have suffered a death-horror of faith. Why? It takes being a Father’s gift to Christ to stand where others fall or fail. And, only these kinds of seeker always have no reason to return, when the journey is hard. But what about Judas, you seem to be asking? Judas Iscariot did not return but rather fell away. None of those drawn by the Father fall away save the son of perdition? In all missions and ministries, sons of perdition must fall away to sell out their masters.

You see, none of us can afford to play game with our Maker. It’s one most dangerous venture to do. All who play religion with their Maker endanger their own soul. And you as a believer must be told that Christianity isn’t religion but a way of Life. Real Christianity is God’s life and power in action. We’re saved to live His life and demonstrate His power. It always saddens my heart that Judas chose to play religion with Jesus.  He ended up being used of the devil to betray the LORD.

I want you to note that Jesus Christ was not moved by the decision of those returnees in Jhn. 6:66. He knew their hearts from the beginning. And the lesson we must learn in this is that the Lord desires that those who’ll walk with Him be of the same mind with Him.

Why did Jesus rather turn to the remaining twelve to query: “Will ye also go away?” (Jhn. 6:67) It was to point out the betrayal.

Will you also go away? Today, He’s asking you and I this same question. Will you also go back from following and serving the Lord Jesus? Will you also return like those your backslidden friends and brethren?

As for the twelve disciples, Peter has this to answer for them: “Then Simon Peter answered Him, LORD, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. (Jhn. 6:68-69).

So, you who was drawn by the Father should have no where to go. You ought to be among those who will follow Jesus to the end. That is why you must first count the cost, and go further to lay your all on the altar. The world is at point of grave crisis, and many saints are turning away from the Light they once proclaimed. But you, like the remaining eleven disciples, should have no where to return.

We all must cleave absolutely to Christ Jesus.

Now I want us to didactically examine Peter’s answer in the above quoted verses. His answer teaches us two outstanding traits of those drawn by the Father.

One, he who is drawn by the Father does not only love Jesus, he so much loves His Word. If you are drawn by God the Father, you will be a greedy lover of the words of life. If you are, you eat the WORD daily with great delight. How do you react each time you hear hard gospel truths? If hard sayings aren’t your delightful meal, something is wrong with you being a true seeker. Unless you are drawn to Christ by the Father, you will never be able to endure the gospel truths. As many as are Father’s gifts love the Christ and His words.

Two, Peter also said “And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ…” to teach that all drawn by the Father have real, sometime unique encounter with the Saviour. They are men and women with sound regeneration effects on their lives.  They have experienced solid redemptive encounter with Christ, such that has gloriously transform their lives. I am talking here of revelation encounter with the Spirit of Christ.

It takes revelation to understand God’s Word. It takes revelation to know Jesus as the Christ of God. Revelation is the grand key to spiritual understanding and personal revival.  For this kind of revelation to come, the believer needs definite divine illumination taking hold of his heart.

Now, Jesus called the miracle of redemption the work of God: “This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him whom He (the Father) hath sent”. (Emphasis mine).

Note that “the work” here is in singular form, unlike “the works” used when He was referring to miracles. He deliberately did this to convey a message to His disciples: that salvation of soul is the grand, unique, foremost business of God. We also must accept this truth that regeneration is the Lord’s noblest and greatest work.

Saving the lost is still the heart-beat of our loving God. It was the primary reason the Father sent Jesus, the Messiah into this world. He came and redeemed us by His death on the Cross. He is the Lamb sacrificed for our sin:“…Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world”(Jhn 1:29).

Jesus loves saving souls possibly above and before all others. Until you yield to the urging voice of the Holy Spirit and believe on the Son, this grand miracle may not be wrought in your life. Salvation is the greatest miracle you need. Seek it first and foremost.

To be saved, you must come through faith to Jesus Christ. He is the fountain of the New Life:“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men”.(Jhn. 1:4).

As physical birth made you a member of your physical, earthly family, so does the spiritual (or second birth) makes you a member of God’s glorious family. And with the new life in Jesus comes also the power of sonship: “But as many as received Him, to the He gave the power to become children of God…” (Jhn. 1:12

Becoming a Christian therefore demands second birth experience. You must be genuinely born again to be truly called a Christian. (Jhn. 3:7-8) Are you born again? Yeah, it is your time to open up to the redemption voice of the Spirit of God. The price of redemption had been paid by Christ but it is the Holy Spirit that brings conviction upon men’s hearts. His conviction is a necessary aid we need to receive the eternal life.

We must personally believe on Christ, trusting Him for our salvation from sin and Satan. When the Holy Spirit convicts to lead us unto repentance, we must surrender all and receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the begotten Son of God” (Jhn. 3:18).

“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on Him. (Jhn 3:36).

Friend, Jesus is the Christ of God. He is the original Life; the eternal Bread of Life you must have living in you. He was God the Seeker, who came to seek for all kinds of seekers and save them. He is the Seekers for you. Stop seeking and come into the warmth embrace of His arms.

Rejecting Jesus Christ is the greatest sin anyone can commit. It bears the strokes of eternal tragedy. Have you received Him? Are you indeed born again? Except you are, you will be doom for ever. Don’t reject the Christ.

The Father still draw men to Christ. Tune your faith to the Lord of Calvary and you will be saved.

Eh, don’t harden your heart. It won’t pay off in the end if you do. Yield over your life to Christ now, while He calls. As the Holy Spirit convicts you of your sins, repent of your evil ways and believe the Gospel. He washes believing sinners in His precious blood and redeems their souls from sin and captivities. Will you surrender your life to Him now and be saved? You can be born again now, even right on your knees?

Be on your knees and pray this penitent prayer: “Dear Father, I come to you in the Name of your Son, Jesus Christ, with all my sins and transgressions. I am very sorry for my sin. Please, Lord, forgive me and wash me in your precious blood, shed for me on Calvary. Set me free from the powers of sin and Satan. Accept me into your beloved and enter my name in the book of Life. My trust is in you, Lord Jesus. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that you are the Christ, the Son of God. Come into my life now, and mark me internally and externally with your blood. Give me the gift of your Holy Spirit. Now I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. I am born again. I believe, receive and declare it in Jesus Name. Amen”.

If you really meant this prayer from the depth of your heart, you’re now born again.  You are a true child of God now. I congratulate and welcome you into God’s royal family. Congratulation! I look forward to hear from you, the testimony of your changed new life. Welcome on board.

Chapter 6

AND ONE OF YOU IS A DEVIL

Though the multitudes that returned were called, they were not chosen. Many are always called but few are always chosen. Out of the many disciples that heard Jesus’ hard sayings, only the twelve were chosen.

Being called proceeds being chosen! Yet many who are truly called often got disqualified at the chosen level: “For many are called, but few are chosen” [Matt. 20:16]. But beyond this is the tragedy of devils among the chosen. Let me devote this chapter to telling you more about this.

The twelve that remained represents the class of the chosen. They all have parts in the ministry and glory of Christ. But today, many are there on the pulpits that are not chosen by the Lord, though called. They have no part “in this ministry” yet they have forced their way through. It will be terrible for them on the last day.

The twelve, drawn by the Father, were not only called but chosen. Even Judas, the betrayal was one of the chosen.

“Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve,

 and one of you is a devil”. (Jhn. 6:70)

So the problem of Judas wasn’t with calling or chosen. He was called and chosen, yet he was the one devil among the chosen. Judas Iscariot, as latter confirmed by Peter, “was numbered with us and had obtained part of this ministry”. (Acts. 1:17).

What then was the problem of Judas? I strongly believe it has to do with not being ordained by the Lord. He wasn’t ordained unto fruitful ministry and glory. And so, he fell “by transgression” from the ministry and apostleship. He took the route of sin to the fall. Sin leads to fall. We still have many Judases in churches and ministries today, claiming their parts in Christ end-time ministry and apostleship. Are they not all devils who must soon betray the LORD?

Hear this: no matter who you are, once you let Satan use you to “lift your heel against Christ”, you’re already a son of perdition. Don’t forget that Judas was first a thief, then a betrayal. What about your own secret sin and hypocritical lifestyles? Have you deal with spiritual let down in your life? You will need to give it a severe blow before it turns to public scandal, shame and destruction. It is quite certain that, like Iscariot, those Judases on the altars will also kiss their own tragic ruins. You only need to watch.

Don’t be a devil among the twelve. Judas called and chosen was a son of perdition. He is the devil in the numbers. There seems to always be one devil among every chosen twelve. What about the remaining eleven? They were Father’s gifts to Christ.

After the fall of Judas, the Master addressed the eleven in this manner: “Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you and ordained you…”(Jhn. 15:16).

The ordained disciples are Christ’s true elects. Listen very well. Except you set your heart right, this favor may escape you. You don’t just seek for Jesus. Seek for Him with a right heart and right motive, guard your heart against pride and ambition; guard it against the lust for mammon and materialism; guard it against fleshly lusts and pleasures.

Purity of motive will give you clear focus and direct you towards your goal eternal. Thus Jesus admonished: “If your eye is single your whole body shall be full of light”.

There must be purity of motive. Without it, vanity is bound to be the end. Men who will seek for and find Jesus must be pure in their season for seeking Jesus.

Gloriously, within the company of the ordained is a circle of the Elects. The Elects are the blessed favorite of Christ. God has favorites. Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Job, Moses, Joshua, David, Elijah and Elisha are few of His favorites. Peter, James and John were Christ’s favorites among the twelve disciples. Favorites were His inner circle disciples to whom He constantly expounded hidden mysteries.

You and I can also become God’s favorite. But we will need to be wealthy in the virtues of brokenness, meekness, obedience, faith, integrity and holiness to qualify for this inner circle glory.

Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth…seek righteousness, seek meekness … (Zeph. 2:3)

Now, deep inside the circle of the favorite is a nucleus of the Beloved. The ‘beloved is the nucleus of the favorites. And John the revelator was this nucleus. So he was often called john -de-beloved. He was the only one who occupied this nucleus among the Apostles. No wonder, being the bosom friend of the Master, he was given the mysteries he wrote down in the book of Revelation. May our hearts aid us also to go as far as the bosom of the LORD Jesus! Amen.

Chapter 7

JESUS ONLY

Jesus only should be our love and pursuit and not those blessing He gives. Jesus is the Word of God, the Word of life and power. He was the creative Word by whom all things were created. (Jn 1: 1-2). The first apostles preached Him and changed the world “…turning it upside down” as stated in Acts17:6. Thus, Jesus is the Lord whom the Holy Spirit came to reveal. We need the fullness of the Holy Spirit to fully declared Him and make disciples of all nations{Jn. 14: 26, 16: 12 – 15}

In this regard, I want you to take your Bible and do a good personal Bible studies with this manual. It will enlighten your soul on who Jesus is and what you ought to do with Him.

The Christ of God

Knowing Jesus as the Christ of God – {Matt. 16:16, Mark 8:29;  Lk. 9:20; Jhn 11:27.}Jesus only is the Christ of God. What does ‘the Christ of God’ depicts? It simply implies that:

-He is the Messiah: Jesus is the Only Messiah who came from the Father to seek, save and deliver us from sin, Satan and woes. {Dan. 9;25-26, Luke 24;26, Jhn. 4:25, 11:27, Rm. 5:6, Acts 4;12; 1st Tim. 1:15}

-He is the only Savior of the world– If he is the Messiah, then He is the only Savior sent by the Father to save humanity from sin. Jesus Christ is the only Author of Life; the only Giver of the eternal or everlasting life, being the Only Bread of life. {Lk. 24:1- ; Rom. 5:6; Jn 10: 1- Acts 4: 12, Hebr. 12:2}

-He is the Sent One: He is the only One sent by the Father for the redemption of man. He is thus the only sacrificial Lamb for sin. Jesus is the only way to heaven, the only truth to believe, and the only life to receive. {Jhn 6: 29; 1st Jhn 5:1}

-He is the Anointed One: He is the only One Anointed by the Father to put end to all woes, all evils and all oppression. {Isa. 61: 1—3; Lk. 4:18-19}

Notes: Only Jesus lived the sinless victorious life, and thus qualified to take back man’s lost dominion from the old serpent – Satan. Adam lost his God’ given dominion to Satan when he fell in the Garden, but the Christ came, dispossessed him of the dominion and gave it back to us.

Discussion Tip: How do we live with this consciousness that with Him living in us we can do all things?

The Son of God

Jesus only is the begotten Son of the Father. (Matt. 16: 13-17; 17:1-6, 4:3; Jn. 1:18, 3:16, 8; 36; Rm. 8: 32; 1st Cort. 1; 9} Believing He is the Son of God is fundamental to the Christian faith. And doing this demands that you embrace all the following revelation for living:

was the only one conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of a virgin. {Matt. 1: 18 – 25}.

– Jesus only was the Word of God – Jhn 1:1; 1st Jn. 1:1, 5:7.

– Jesus only was the God incarnate. He is God who came in the flesh – Jhn 1: 14, 5:18, 10; 33, 38, 13:13, Rev. 3; 20

– Jesus only was God-man.  – Phil. 2: 5-8; Matt. 14: 33; Jn 1: 1-14; Acts 8: 37

– Jesus was the only one who ever lived without sinning.

– Jesus only is the soon-coming King – Dan. 2: 44-45; Lk. 1:32 – 33

Notes: He proved all these and more when He died, rose on the 3rd day, and ascended to the Father’s right hand to live forever. Lk. 24:7, 26, 38-44.

Discussion Tip 2: How can people see Jesus only in our lives, homes and ministries?

*Jesus only is the message to proclaim. He is the only gospel message given to us to preach and teach. The Bible is so clear on this: All the prophets who came before Him spoke about Him, He preached Himself, and the apostle preached Him. {Lk. 24:27; Psm. 16: 9-10; Isa. 7:14-16, 9:6-7; Jer. 23:5-6; Ezk. 34: 23; Dan. 9:24; Mal. 3:1; Acts.

-Jesus is the only message that transforms lives and nations. Think of the spiritual power that changes lives when, under the anointing of the Spirit we boldly declare the good news of His glory, His coming, His life of righteousness, and  miraculous works! Think also of the power that flow when we proclaim benefits of His atoning death, resurrection and ascension! It is only when we preach Jesus as the apostles did, that we will turn today’s world upside down as they did. Acts 17: 6

-We are to go forth proclaiming Him. We have been commanded to go, and not to sit. No one is as miserable as a sitting church or believer. The LORD destined the church to be a going church. We are to go to all nations preaching Jesus Christ. Matt. 28: 17 – 20; Mk. 16: 15 – 18

-We should be burdened with the vision of the last days’ revival. We are to be brightly burning lamps, as John Baptist was. We can only change the world when we burn and shine as God’s lamp in this end time. Yes, let us be Christ’s last days’ ambassadors, acting out our restored dominion, just like the Apostles did in the book of Acts.

Notes: Jesus actually came to destroy the works of the devil which include sins, misery, oppression, bondage and poverty. He accomplished the feat when he declared “It is finished” on the Cross. He redeemed us and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.

Discussion Tip: How do we disciple people and nations for Jesus only and exercise Christ’s power and authority as His ambassadors?

The Divine Mandate – Matt. 29:17 – 20; Mk. 16: 15 – 18

The call to soul winning and disciple making is a clarion call. Jesus Christ who came to save and deliver extended this same mandate of salvation and deliverance to all who believe in Him. He said “Go ye therefore and teach all nations … { Matt. 28; 19}. We are all saved to be instrumental in saving others.  How?

-With this transferred mandate also came the power and the authority to accomplish the mission. All we need doing is surrendering to the One who sent us. {John 7:  Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, Lk 10:19}

.

-The great commission calls us to radical actions of evangelism, church planting and discipleship. {Mk. 16; 15 – 18, Acts 1- 28}

-The ministry of reconciliation Jesus gave to us include soul winning, healing, deliverance and miraculous. {Matt. 10: 5 – 8; Lk. 4: 17-19}

-Preaching the gospel is the primary way to building our lives upon the foundations of the apostles & prophets. {Eph.1: 17 – 20, 4: 7 – 16} It is time to move in the full-flame of God’s Spirit and power to change the world by the WORD. {Acts 2; 1-4, Jn. 7: 37 – 39; Rom 8:16 – 19}

Discussion Tips: How do we positive influence the world around us for Christ?

How do we purge the world of corrupted mindset, traditions, culture, adulterated truths & evil organizations or governments? How do we bring down the revival fire for global liberation?

Notes:

Christians should employ the benefits of social media and other technological platforms to declare the WORD and change the world.

We should improve on the use of literature, music and movies mediums to ignite revival and disciple the nations.

Your 7-Steps To Victorious Living

  1. ACKNOWLEDGE the truth that you are a sinner. You are lost, condemned sinner in dire need of the Savior came to set you free from sin and eternal death.(Acts 2:38; Rom 3:23-25;5:10-15;6:23)
  1. APPROACH the Lamb of God. With a humble, repentant heart approach Christ Jesus and confess your sins to Him, asking for forgiveness and mercy. His blood cleanses and redeems from all sins.(Heb 9:12-14;Eph 1:7;Rom 5;9-10)
  1. ACCEPT Jesus Christ as your personal LORD and savior. Turn to Him through a saving faith and personal accept Him as Lord. Then begin to live your life as pure, chaste Virgin.
  1. ACCESS the life and power of His Holy Spirit. Surrender to the power of the Holy Spirit. Bear the spirit fruit and get baptized with the Holy Ghost. Develop daily fellowship and communion with God in prayer, fast constantly and study of the WORD (Acts 1:8; 2:1-4)
  1. AFFIX your life, eyes and world to Jesus. He is the Lord of Glory. Fix your eyes on Him both for continuous abiding and transformation experiences. (2Cort. 3:17-18)
  1. AFFECT the world around you positively for Christ. Touch your generation with His flaming power; impacting lives positively for glory. (Haggai 2:79; Acts 8:7; 2Cort.6:16)
  1. ATTAIN unto reputable spiritual state. Separate yourself daily from end time moral vices and spiritual viruses that are killing the world today. Always maintain a high spiritual voltage and be at alert for the rapture and Christ second coming.

Chapter 1

It Is Night

We are in the midnight watches. Gross darkness is grossly covering the world. It’s night; many saints of the Christ are deeply asleep. Many of His lamps are burning out already. Oh, how the reigns of darkness are being felt all over the world! Oh, how greatly the folly of fools are manifesting to the tragedy of the globe!

It is night but Christ’s dawning day is imminent and shall be so glorious. Yes, it shall be indeed glorious when the King of all kings appears in the sky to take up His steadfast saints. All who are true believers in Christ shall become His royal bride. The Spirit born people are a people betrothed to the Lord the King, Jesus Christ. He is coming soon come to have us in a glorious wedlock. We shall all be a glow with the rejoicing of His glory when He comes.

It is night and will the Bridegroom meet us nicely robed in the wedding attire? Will He meet me and you with our lamps brightly burning?

Salting the Earth

We’re the light of the world, set on earth by the Lord to salting it. But many who claim to born-again Christians are tragically losing their virtue as the salt of the earth. What a sad thing that Christianity now bears almost zero impact on the sinning world! We are pre-occupied with the earthly pursuits, and eagerly seeking the possessions of all her fading glories. We need worldly treasures and pleasures to satisfy our insatiable desires and burning lusts. As a result many a giants have lost their taste for the heavenly. Oh, what a tragedy that the earthly glories we hunt to have shall turn to vanities one day! It is really painful that all the wealth we pursue shall vanish away like a flash.

Do you run the physical life at the expense of the spiritual? It is the reason you have lost your salting value. And indeed, the Christianity of our days seems to have lost its savor. Lights are turning into darkness, making the world of the unsaved to stand afar off, mocking the heritage of God! Oh, brethren, can’t you feel the scorns, the derision, and the contempt? Indeed, the church of Christ needs wholesome revival of fire.

As a result of all the ungodly competition with the world, many believers are losing their values. Yes, your greed for money, materialism and worldly glories has eaten deep into your heart and your value.

The Bible makes it clear that when the salt loses its flavor, it loses its worth: Salt is good; but if the salt has lost his savor, wherewith shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out….. (Luke 14: 34-35)

Are you presently being locked in the web of materialism? It is the grand pathway to losing your spiritual might. It is high time you stopped prostituting your life, talents, calling and values on the altar of world lusts. Should the bride of Christ also lose out because sinners are losing out? Must men of faith get out of hand because things are getting out of hand? This evil competition with the world ought to stop. We’ve got to take heed:

And take heed to yourselves, lest at anytime your hearts be over changed with surfeiting and drunkenness and cares of this life, And so that day come upon you unawares. (Lk 21:34).

State of the Church

Mammon is the new god of this age Christianity. And how sad and tragic it should! Having conquered the sinning world, mammon has triumphantly invaded the pulpit and, and is now making a conquest of the laity also. Mammon is becoming an enthroned king of the church. Dearly beloved, you’ve got to cry to all who care to heed: greed is on the throne in contemporary churches. So sad!

Materialism has become the new gospel message instead of Christ. The original message of the Cross has been relegated and trample upon.  Have you notice it also; how pre-sermon and post-sermon altar calls are no longer for salvation but for money? In fact, fund-raiser ministers are now on higher demand in the land. Oh, what a doomed thing to see!

Consequently, many sincere church planters are now being mistaken for business-men by onlookers. We are mocked because so-called men of God now “swoop down on the spoils” of souls. Very few men still trust and honor men of God as men of God. Oh, how good old days have become history! Ah, what a horror of the night! We certainly need God’s deliverance now.

Chapter 2

SIGNS OF THE NIGHT

Darkness is the nature of the night. Darkness falls and rules in the night. And it’s being dark in the world. Gross darkness has ceased the world, and men groan in it with pride and ignorance.

It is dark! Oh, what a sign of the night that believers are missing their purpose for living. Yes, many believers are missing it having forgotten that glorifying God is our principal reason for existence. We are betrothed to glorify God by a life of total commitment to Christ, the Groom, but greed and self glory are now the evil drive. Christ is supposed to be our love and the lone object of our worship, but our hearts are totally giving to the love of mammon. We’re meant to be true spiritual worshippers, but we’ve dangerously lost our place at His altar.

“The light of the today is the eye; If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.”(Matt. 6:22).

Spirit of Complacency

It is dark! And so spirit of complacency now thrives unhindered in the Christendom. Just another sign of the night! Yes, we have mastered how to live with the world without incurring her wrath. And because we chose to be conformed to the ways of the unsaved, we now compromise the authentic gospel message. Then, all other things began to go wrong – the habits, the prayer pattern, the lifestyle, the dressing styles and the evangelistic fervor, among others.

It is the spirit of complacency that teaches us the fear of being called fanatics. It instructs us to become friendly and comfortably with our evil surroundings. Consequently, our loyalty to Christ is divided, our allegiance becomes half-hearted, and our service turns hypocritical.

Compromise is sin. And we must warn all and sundry that Jesus Christ will never accommodate the present lukewarm-ness and self-indulgence being puffed up in the Christendom.

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot. I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth. (Rev.3:15-16)

Betraying the Calvary Conquest

It is dark! And intercession for soul-winning missions ceases to be a part of our prayer life. We now make violent destruction of foes and fake the principal objective of our prayer ministry. And, don’t forget, devil rejoices when we forget the major and major in minor. I am not preaching here against violent warfare prayer. I believe in and pray it daily. But we all know that the way it is being presently practiced magnifies more of Satan’s than Christ’s.  Any violent praying that betrays the Calvary conquest actually glorifies Satan.

When Calvary conquest is in view, we don’t handle enemy’s powers as the all that matters. Neither do we get swallowed up with our personal troubles at the expense of lost, dying souls.  It is a sign of the night that, in our desperation to be freed, we struggle to ‘kill’ demons and ‘slaughter’ human foes with such trembling, emotional imbalances. This kind of praying betrays the triumphant faith we proudly profess.

Triumphalism is the description of the New Testament Christianity. As intimacy with God drops each day, we present Christianity as merely militancy. Yet, the militancy of the Cross is triumphant. The gospel as it was delivered to us preaches triumphalism. At Calvary, the Lord Jesus totally won the battle for us and sent down His Spirit to empower and make triumphant Armies of us. We are giving the Holy Spirit to engage the devil in the wars of liberating the captives. We are saved to be soul harvest armies.

Christ triumph is emancipative, thus “Jesus therefore… Said, ‘It is finished…’ [Jhn.19:30].Yeah, it is finished!  His victories and feats are the jubilee we are called to celebrate.

We’re to celebrate this jubilee by the spirit of faith, and not fear. But how sadly that many now celebrate their ‘jubilee’ below the realm of Christ’s triumphalism.

Dying Evangelism Fervor

It is dark! And our evangelism fervor is dying. Street witnessing is no longer a practice. House to house evangelism is dead. Soul winning outreaches no longer matter.  Like the trembling army of King Saul, we’re becoming a fearful Army. The fear of facing contempt and losing our soul rules the heart. Yet Jesus warned us against it: “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake… shall save it”. (LK 9:24).

It is dark!  And sons of Belial are gone loosed and crazy on the holy altars. We’re deep into the night, even in the midnight watches. As it was in the days of Eli the priest, horror of darkness has invaded the temple; yeah, the lamp on the altar is going diming, just as darkness reigns. No wonder, the revelation word of God is becoming so rare a gold. And the eyes of many contemporary prophets are waxing ‘dim that they could not see’.

It is dark and, like sons of Eli, many so-called gospel ministers now ride with uncontrolled greed, robbing worshippers of their money and means. They shamelessly kick at the Lord’s sacrifices and thereby corrupting the Lord’s ministry. Several of these Belial ministers unashamedly commit sexual sins, even right on the altar. But God shall soon clear His name by wiping them out, just as He did to the sons of Eli the priest. (I Sam 3&4)

The Drive for Lusts

It is dark! And Christianity today is vastly becoming the pride of the sensual. Lusts for fame and fortune, position and diabolical powers now thrive unhindered. Everyone wants to be executive, at all cost. This clamor for titles and holler for wild programs rent the air every day. Activities now replace spirituality. And we celebrate having it so.

Filled with sensual pride, we cleverly outdated soul-winning commission especially open air crusade, hospital outreach, and house to house evangelism. Passion for souls is gone. Then, as the Lamps go darker, we move from competition to confusion; from strife to division.

It is dark! And we now prioritize our utmost love for our loved ones, at the expense of our love for the Christ. The discipleship tenet given by the Lord Jesus in Luke 14:26-27 is no longer taught as should. The biblical Christian discipline ceases to be the Christian virtue.

It is dark! And we compel worshippers to sow their seed on non-fertile land. Without iota of the doubt, such unlucky “seed that fall amongst the thorns” would be choked by thorns. So, prayerfully sow your seed in fertile soil, and watchfully too. Watch how and where you give. Greedy and worldly leading ‘saints’ multiply daily. Give but be sure you give rightly.

Truly, it is good to give and givers never lack, yet, let givers not forget that only a seed sow into fertile soil will win him lasting, bountiful harvests. Many of the fund raised today goes the wrong way. We fund projects that were answers to certain human ego. We give to vision that bears no positive impacts on God’s kingdom mission. When church members give to satisfy leader’s greed, they will certainly lose the harvest. It is unbiblical to fund projects that bear no relevance to Christ redemption project or feed your leader’s ego or to fill the ever enlarging lusty bellies of some ministers. It is time you fund the gospel and stop cash stocking the lusty pockets of our spiritual leaders.

Sowing your seeds into fertile land is sending your money to that which touches God’s heart most. These fertile lands are soul-winning outreaches, foreign missions and missionaries, discipleship ventures, welfare to the poor, widows, orphans, and anointed men of God.

It is dark! It is midnight watches! Yea, it is the high time we woke up to trim our lamps, lest we be harmed by the horrors of the night? Indeed it is time!

Chapter 3

REVIVALISTS NEEDED

Without fail, we need many revivalists like Samuel to turn in the glory light. This is the urgent need of the hour. There are still many wise virgins in the church, patiently awaiting the arrival of the Bridegroom. And this midnight hour is the best time for the King’s virgins to trim their lamps. Yes, we must wake out of slumber and be ignited for the last day’s revival mission. The revolution is needed now!

Like John the Baptist, all true revivalists are bright burning lamps. They are flame throwers with the mandate to positively impact humanity with the great gospel power. End-Time revivalist aren’t seekers for fame but for the divine flame. Neither do they run after earthly wealth and glories, but after true riches. The Lord of harvest is calling us to join end time revival armies. It is time to light up in His flame and be true throwers of the revival fire.

God needs revivalists who will unashamedly preach the word. Thus, the Apostle Paul gave Timothy the called up: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season…” (2Tim. 4:2). We are to preach the word boldly, even in the face of fiercest persecution:  “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry”. (2 Tim. 4:5).

True revivalist aren’t they who go through short routes to get power and populate their churches. Many contemporary ‘anointed men’ actually carry nothing but strange fires. Why? They could not wait for their time of glorification in the ministry. Several run to the gods for helps because they strangely burn with greed for fortunes and fame. True revivalists don’t make covenants with dark lords, just because they want success. Real men of God never seek for satanic miracle working power to boost the numerical strength of God’s kingdom.

Have you wonder why people now hold even truly anointed men of God in suspicion? Have you ever consider why several unsaved ones mock in disbelief anytime they see or hear that a certain man of God is working miracles, signs and wonders? We must hold false and fake ones among us responsible for such suspicious, and not the people.

The last days’ revivalists are men and women who work with God. Stop working for God, o man of God. Now is the time to work with Him. Men of true anointing are still available among us, laboring with God. There are still sincere seekers for the power and the Spirit of God.  And God still anoint true seekers with His power and Spirit to do His works.

Last days’ revivalists will be loaded with the anointing that truly set the captives free, heal the sick, raise the dead, break evil yokes and turn sinners to saints. But all who partner with Satan to work miracles and run churches shall be smashed with tragedies in the end.  All such ‘anointed men’ have no vision for the heavenly home, and none of them will they get there.

Arise Now!

Beloved, if you are one of the wise virgins, the urgency of these perilous days is calling you must arise now. A million captives are waiting for you to arise and manifest the glory of your son-ship in Christ. Hear it: “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestations of the sons of God” (Rom. 8:19)

Impulsive Response to Altar Call

Why is it that many that came to Christ today does so with impulsive decision? Why is it that there is no genuine repentance among many? Why is it that there are no proofs of new resurrected life in many who claim to be born again? Casual response to altar calls isn’t what the Lord requires. But what do you expect when pulpits deliver a ‘gospel’ that lacks Calvary potent truth. How else will sinners respond to messages of ministers whose crowns lack the golden oil? For the pulpit to truly free sinners and captives, it must be fully robed with both the blood and the fire.

Yet, we can’t blame preachers for all the present ministerial inadequacies. In many cases, it is congregation who hire who they wanted and dictate the kind of ‘gospel’ he should preach. There are many “itching ears” congregations in search of hireling: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall theyheap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Tim. 4:3-4).

Since those who hate the truth must end up in heresies, the result is all we now have in the Christendom. This is the major reasons for clergy rejection and cross-carpeting membership.  Yea, in this midnight watches, you can keep on cross-carpeting as you like, moving from one church to another, until you find the tale bearer you’re looking for. You are dull of hearing the truth and have now turn to false prophets, hireling bishops, fake teachers and motivational speakers turned ‘pastors’. Indeed, you are at liberty to keep on heaping teachers to yourselves, who will tell you just what you like.

Itching ears congregations are ‘like pastor, like members’! The message of the Cross and resurrection irritates their heart. Yet, the eternal truth is: Jesus only is the message.

So, my dear reader, are you numbered among the wise ones or among the foolish? You need wisdom to deal with your itching ears before they dump you into eternal blackness. It takes the wisdom divine to prevail over the ongoing spiritual crisis of the End-Time. Will your acclaimed wisdom stands the test of time? Will the wisdom of eminent saints not be counted as folly when the Lord of all wisdom arrives? It takes wisdom to watch your relationship with Christ and His word, every moment in life. Wisdom is the only sure way to recovering our values in this midnight era.  It’s high time we recovered our spiritual and moral values, lest we be damned when the Bridegroom appears.

Counting the Cost

Did you really count the cost being a Christian before starting the race? May be you never did, yet that is where true wisdom begins. Christ illustrates it in Luke. 14:28-35. {please read this now}. You’ve got to count the cost and know that once you commit your life to Jesus Christ, whether you live or die no longer matters. You’ve got to count the cost that you may know that your life is no longer yours, for you have been bought by His blood. You’ve got to count the cost and accept the truth that it is criminal for you to still hold on to your life as if it still belongs to you.

All who counted the cost knew that it doesn’t matter whether we are chosen to live for Christ like Apostle John or appointed to die for Him like Stephen. As far as Christ is concerned, it is more honorable to die for His cause than for any other purposes on earth.  Why the fear? It’s time to trim your lamps and abandon the totality of your-lives to the cause of Christ. You also can be a revivalist for Him, and be all out for Him. You also can faithfully serve Him in the Spirit and devotion of the martyr:  “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: Behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life. (Rev. 2:10).

Chapter 4

THE PROPHETIC STATUE

The book of Daniel was written in the 6th century B.C; in the days of Babylonian captivity. In the second chapter, God had shown the Chaldean King Nebuchadnezzar a terrifying statue in a dream. Unfortunately, as dread as he was, he woke up only to forget the dream. What a sorry case. As a result, he summoned all his magicians, astrologers and wise men but none could tell the king’s dream. What followed was a serious theater, having the royal palace as the dramatic scene.

In the course of the said drama, the king threatened to eliminate his wise men, should they fail to tell him the dreams and also its interpretation. Responding to the King’s strange order, the wise men replied:  “…there is not a man upon the earth that can show the king’s matter: …” (Dan. 2:10)

At this humble acceptance of their inability and failure, the king got furious, and ordered that they be all killed. What an order for royal execution! Yes, but thank God, what is impossible for man is possible for God. What a joy that a light of hope came from men who were God’s Saints in the Babylon.

Daniel, Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego, as anointed of the most high, were men who knew their God. In fact, they were regarded to gods in Babylon.  Likewise you are and I are ‘gods’, if the Spirit of the living God truly reigns in us. It was the Holy Spirit in the life of Daniel that made him special vessel for royal distinction. (Dan. 6:3).

The Scripture establishes this truth that we are gods. The anointing of the Holy Ghost makes us so. Moses was made ‘a god’ unto Pharaoh and Egyptian hosts. (Exd. 7:1), and anointed leaders of Israel were called gods, (Exd. 22:28)

Dear beloved, like Daniel, if you have God’s excellent spirit alive in you, you are a god. Spirit anointed believers are gods.
(Psm. 82:6). As gods we are agents of dominion, commissioned to act in the stead of God. Thus, we are to reign in dominion over nations and kingdoms.  (Jer. 1:10).

Brethren it seems the level of our usefulness, influence and control, in the world is always dictated by the level of the fullness and impact of the Holy Spirit in us. Thus, if we are to really take dominion or charge of our environment and generation, we must seek for the Spirit’s greater influence and deeper union. We are ‘gods’! We are Christ’s dominion agency, marked for distinction and honor in life.

Do you occupy your place in the generation you belonged?  As for Daniel, he understood who he was because of the covenant and the Holy Spirit that lived in him. Daniel, having chosen not to die with Babylonian wise men, demanded for a stay of execution from the king. He would go unto His living God, and come back with real solution. To this, the king agreed. Daniel and his three Hebrew friends went to God in prayer; and God answered them that same night.

Are you seeking an insight into any deep secrets also? Is your life locked up in the bowel of dark mystery and you urgently needed a light? Are you confused about certain situations in your life and needed revelation for assurance? I beseech you to seek the Lord’s face in prayer and fasting today, and He’ll speak clearly to you.  (Daniel 2:22, 28 & 47) Seek God’s face and He will unlock your locked mysteries to you. Never allow any area of your life to live in the realm of darkness.

Now, what was it that God revealed to Daniel that very night?  It was the prophetic statue. Let me explain the statue and its interpretations. It was a human image which prophetically represents the kingdoms of this world. Especially those that should successively bear rule among the nations, and have influence on the state affairs of Israel. These kingdoms or empires were represented by a single statue because it was the same spirit that controls them. We will consider each part of the statue, one after the other, with detail interpretations and explanations.

Head of Gold

This represents the Chaldean (Babylonian) monarchy. As at the time, Babylonian monarchy was the greatest {Dan. 2: 37-38} Kings of Babylon were truly known for superior greatness and power. From Nebuchadnezzar, to Evil-Merodach to Belshazzar, the Babylonian monarchy demonstrated absolute power, total authority and wisdom in kingdom. Indeed, Babylonian king was the head. Chaldean monarchy ruled with the strength of a lion strong, fierce and absolute.

But Babylonian monarchy was not just a head; it was a head of gold. And this implies her superiority in wealth, extent, might and glory.

As the head of gold, the Babylonian kingdom conquered Israel, took her to captivity and ruled over her for 70 years. Though before it happened, the prophet Jeremiah had prophetically warned the Jews for their sins but they would not listen. (Jer. 25:11). Babylonian kings, as predicted they would be, made conquest of the world kingdoms in a speed of an eagle. This monarchy was indeed “a lion with eagle’s wing” spoken of in Daniel 7:4.

Chest and Arms of Silver

This represents Medo-Persia Monarchy, founded by Darius and Cyrus in an alliance.  While Darius was from media, Cyrus was a Persian, thereby representing the two arms. This same kingdom was represented as “a ram with two horns” in Daniel 8:3.These two horns were the joint government in the alliance.

The Medo-Persia Monarchy was “another kingdom inferior to thee” that should rise after the fall of Babylon, predicted in Daniel 2:39(a). It was a kingdom of silver, next in terms of worth and durability to Babylon, the golden head.

Indeed, Medo-persia was not as strong, powerful, rich and victorious as Babylon was. In Daniel chapter 7 it was prophesized that Medo-Persia Monarch was to rule in the spirit of a bear – a beast of lesser strength to lion. Medo-Persia Monarchy, however can be said to be as ravenous as Chaldean. (Daniel 7:5).

This monarchy to enlarge her areas of dominion, “pushed westward and northward and southward”, making her conquests of Babylon, Syria, Greece, Asia, Lydia, Armenia, Scythia, Arabia, Egypt and Ethiopia. Persia kings became so powerful and did according to will, until they became very great.

Belly and Thighs of Brass

This is the Grecian Monarchy. Greece was founded by Alexander the great, who conquer Darius, the last emperor of the Persian Empire. This monarchy was said to be of brass. In other word, it was inferior to Medo-Persia monarchy, both in worth and extent.

Alexander was of a royal blood, the son of Philip, a Macedonia king. He began his war at the age of 20, conquered Persia at 26, and dies at 32 of drunken surfeit (i.e. poison). He left no child when he died. In Alexander, Greek reigned by the power of the sword over all the earth. Alexander truly boasted; “I had conquered the world”. He conquered the great army of Persian kingdom, an army numbering over 30,000 soldiers. In his three major wars against the Persian, Alexander killed about 600,000 men. Within six years he conquered the entire lands of Persia Empire and Asia; and had rule over Syria, India, Egypt, among others.

Alexander the great was the ravenous leopard spoken of in Daniel chapter 7, and thus he was very crafty, cruel and active. He was the prophetic “leopard with wings of a fowl”: “… I behold, and lo another like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.” {Dan 7:6}

Also, he was the he goat of Daniel 8:8. Alexander was indeed of the he-goat spirit, for he conquered the world with little or no oppositions. (Dan. 8:5). Upon his death, his conquests were divided among his four chief captains.

His four captains were the “four heads of the winged leopard” and the “four horns” of the he-goat, that came up after the great horn was broken.
 (Daniel 8:8) Their names and territorial conquests are:

  1. Seleucus Nacanar (who took over Asia)
  2. Ptolemeus (who took over Egypt)
  3. Cassander (who took over Macedonia/ Syria)
  4. Perdiccus (who took over Greece).

Legs of Iron

This represents the Roman monarchy. It was this “Iron” kingdom that broke the Grecian empire in pieces. The Roman monarchy was the fourth beast said to be more fierce and formidable than others. (Daniel 7:7). By the strength of iron, Rome conquered and extended to France, Spain, Germany, Britain, Asia, Egypt, Greece, Pannonia and Sarmatia. This kingdom also destroyed the Jews nation.

Don’t forget that it was at the peak of the reign of Herod the great that Jesus was born, and infant were slaughter at Bethlehem. The Jews nation was still under the Roman monarchy all through the days of the early Apostles, with Agrippa as Herod ruling over Judea, and Antipas over Galilee.

In later years of its days, as predicted, the Roman Empire experienced several civil wars. E.g. there were wars between Silas and Marius; also between Julius Caesar and Pompey, among others.

Toes of Iron and Clay (Part of Iron and part of Clay)

Many believe that this represents the revived Roman Empire. Towards the end of Roman Monarchy it grew weaker and weaker. The kingdom having suffered from effect of many civil wars, eventually broke off into ten kingdoms, which stand for the ten toes of the feet in the prophetic statue. Some of these kingdoms were strong, while some were weak, signifying iron and clay mixture.  In Daniel’s night vision of chapter 7, these ten toes are called ten horns.

And what could these ten toes represent? Many scholars of Bible prophecy differ  are pointing fingers to the leading member states of the present day European Communities {EC}, especially those occupying the territory of the ancient Roman Empire. These nations include Italy, Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Netherland, United Kingdom, Greece, Ireland, and Denmark. Many Bible scholars believed these ten leading EU members are the revived Roman Empire.

What about the little horn that is to produce the anti-Christ? Historically, the Americans, Paleo-americans descendants, believed to have migrated from Eurasia, made the declaration of independence from the Great Britain in 1776.  With her 13colonies, the new independent state came to be known as United States of America. It wasn’t long after her independence declaration when America is a superpower, competing with Soviet Union. And with the dissolution of Soviet Union in 1991, USA became the world’s superpower.  Many Bible scholars believe she is the prophetic ‘little horn’ that is to produce the anti-Christ. (Daniel 7:8). We only need to be on the watch out!

The Sovereign Stone

Jesus Christ is “the Shepherd the Stone of Israel”. Build your faith on Him.  Build your faith solidly on Jesus Christ, the coming Sovereign Stone. He is the Stone that “was cut-out without hands” in Daniel 2:34.This means he is the coming supernatural Stone that will bring a sudden end to the governments and dominions of this world. So soon, the Lord Jesus shall be ‘cut out’ without human aids, as the sovereign stone to break in pieces kingdoms and their vain values. He is coming to establish His eternal Kingdom and dominion in their stead, even in these days of the ten toes.  Dan. 2:44.

Jesus is the Rock; the living, spiritual Rock that followed Israelites in the wilderness; and from whom they drunk the living water. You can safely build your life and hope on Him. {I Cor. 10:4}  He is the head Stone, upon which any spiritual structures would survive. Build all your hope on Jesus; He is the Chief Corner Stone. {1Pet.2:4}  He is the only sure WORD, the only solid foundation upon which we are to build our lives, hope, faith and destiny. All other grounds are sinking ground.  (Matt. 7:24).

But He also is the Stone of stumbling and the rock of offence. My prayer for you is this: you will not be appointed to stumble at Jesus Christ. All who stumble at or fall upon Him “shall be broken:” and all He falls upon “shall be grounded to powders” (Luke 20:18). This is the portion of the disobedient, the unbelieving, the rebel and the proud of this world: “And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed”. (Rom. 9:32-33)

Jesus, the great Conqueror, is coming as the Sovereign Stone to ground to nothing all values of Babylonian monarchy, crush the ideals of Medo-Persian kingdom, destroy standards of the Grecian Empire, and bring to end all the powers and values of the Roman. The Revived Roman Empire shall be brought to utter ruin. For Jesus at His coming shall smite the Legs of iron and clay, with its ten toes.

We are now in these days of the ten toes. It is the last time, brethren. We have seen the emergence of superpowers. Is USSR one of the three horns that shall fall before the little horn? Interestingly we have watched the dismantling of the once great USSR. While Europe still count among the superpowers, America daily display her pride of being the global power. China also is raising her horn. Is America really the little horn?

Point blank, Jesus is the coming sovereign Stone that shall be cut out without hands, to break in pieces all the kingdoms. He wills grand together their power and glories. We are now at the tail of the end time, in the reigns of the “ten toes” mixed with iron and clay.

This is the last hour. Both strong (iron) and weak (clay) kingdoms shall soon be crushed by Christ the Stone. Oh what a tragic end it will be when Christ’s monarchy appears to smite the kingdoms! (Dan.2:44).

Chapter 5

TIME UP!

The most compelling of all fulfilled Bible prophecies is Daniel’s 70 weeks. The awe of its fulfillment always takes hold of me. I want to take you into a study of this great prophecy for just two reasons: One, to refresh your mind with the great truth that God is winding up His eternal program on earth; and two, to challenge you to early preparation for Christ’s second coming.

To begin with, please open your Bible to Daniel 9:20-27. Read through those verses again. Now, as we study together, take note of the following words in the passages.

SEVEN (vs. 25):  Seven is the Hebrew word “HEPTAD”, which means a period of seven days, seven weeks or seven years.

MESSIAH THE PRINCE (vs. 25):  It means the Christ or the Anointed One.

‘CUT OFF’ (vs. 26): It means to kill or to be killed, as in the Old Testament.

Next, we need to ask a question: ‘when the prophecy says “70 weeks are determined upon thy people” what does it actually means?  We need to have a sound understanding of the Jews calculations and calendar to get the answer to this question.

The Jews Calendar

First, the Jews calendar differs from our contemporary calendar. How? Jews calendar is consisted of 12 months of 30 days, making up 360 days a year, while modern calendar is 365 days a year.  Second, we need the explanation of certain historical facts from fulfilled parts of the prophecy in questions. These include the under listed:

The commandment to rebuild Jerusalem was given in 444 BC in the 20th    years of king Artaxerxes, which was two years after the prophecy. (Neh. 2:1-9).

The rebuilding work was finished in the 49th year it began, and Israel returned to their land from the captivity. Deductively, these 49 years of rebuilding and returning was what God termed seven weeks.

Now, if the first 7 weeks was 49 years, what would be the next 62 weeks? Let’s do the calculation together:

1 week=49/7 = 7 years

2 weeks=7 x 2=14 years

7 weeks=7 x 7=49 years

62 weeks=7 x 62=434 years

69 weeks=7 x 69=483 years)

If our calculation is right, we get 483 years from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem in 444BC to the crucifixion of Christ in 33 AD.

The Modern Calendar

Let’s take a step further by converting the above to the modern calendar:

483 x 360=173880 days (Jews Calendar)

173,880/365=476 years (Modern Calendar)

Notes: It is exactly 476 years. King Artaxerxes decreed the rebuilding in 444BC and Christ the Messiah was killed “Cut off”’ in 33 AD (there is no Zero in Calendar). The prophecy says ‘70 weeks’ (Daniel 9:24) but we have been able to calculate only 69 weeks. (Dan. 9:25). Seven weeks plus Sixty-two weeks is equal to sixty nine weeks. Where is the last one week of the seventy week?

Daniel’s Missing Week

It is generally believe that the missing one week (7 years) has to do with the rapture/great tribulation years that will soon take place. Soon, at the beginning of this “one week”, Jesus will appear in the sky to take up His bride – the spotless, glorious church. (I Thess. 4:16-17).  This one week (7 years) shall be divided into two equal years,  in the first 3 ½ years we will sit to be rewarded at the BEMA seat of judgment, and in the other 3 ½ years. We shall be wedded to the Lamb in the marriage supper of the Lamb. Both will take place up in the air, after we have been caught up with the Lord Christ.

However, the believers who miss the rapture shall be left here on earth. And for them, it will be wholesome be troubles, the “Jacob’s time of trouble”. They will suffer with the world of sinners for that 7years. At the beginning of the seven years, the anti-Christ will emerge and takeover the reigns of the universal government. He will be friendly especially with Israelis in the first half 3½ of the seven years. He’ll make treatise with the saints of God in the first half.

In the second 3½ years, the anti-Christ will break the covenant and unleash terrors upon the people. (Rev. 6:1-17, 12:3-6.  And o, what a terrible time it will be, when freedom will be given only to those who receive the mark of the Antichrist, 666. You’ve got to put your life in order friend, lest you be left behind here to face the great tribulation.

The Millennium Reign

At the close of these seven years, Jesus will come down with His bride, the glorious church, to reign over all the earth. He will rule for a thousand years, popularly called the Millennium reign of Christ. Throughout these years Satan will be bound in the bottomless pit. (Rev. 20:2, 3 & 20:3)

But the question so pertinent is this: ‘will you and I reign with Christ? Oh, dearly beloved, you and I dare not lose-out at the roll of God this end time. Nothing can be more a tragedy than such. We must not lose out. Oh! We must remain faithful till the end that we may be found worthy to reign with Him.

At the end of the 1000 years, the Lord will loose Satan for a season. And as soon as he is loosed, the devil will gather armies of nations for the war against the Christ and His kingdom. But he shall be crushed with his vast armies. This war is called the Battle of Armageddon. Thereafter, Satan and all who follow him shall appear before the white throne judgment. Devil and all who rejected the Lordship of Christ shall be damned before the white throne of judgment, and cast into hell fire.

THE FORCE OF PROPHECY

A congregational choir of my Evangelical church once sang in one of her song anniversaries a song: “injury time laye wa…” meaning ‘the world is at its injury time’. This is just a line in a long didactic melody sang by the renowned choir. And, I personally agreed with the composer of this verse: it is indeed the injury time. Sooner than we think, the Stone will be cut out without hands to smash all the kingdoms of the earth.

All will soon be swept away by the coming King. Christ’s Second Advent shall bring into naughty the governments of this age.  All thrones and glories shall be grounded to powder. It’s going to be sudden. He’ll come like a thief in the night!

Beloved, is your hope and trust in the glories and riches of this age? Listen, it isn’t all that glitters are gold. If you consume all your life in amassing all that this world could offer, you will soon be the most miserable.  Oh, it won’t be long again when all who place their trust in the earthly values will be tragically disappointed.

But my greatest heart-pain is has to do with many contemporary believers who are losing sight of eternity, already. It’s sad today that many believers no longer live for heaven. The charming but fading glory of this world has seduced several thousands. Already, many have fallen into the temptation of losing the hope of His coming. By the conducts of many believers you can clearly tell how damage their faith has become. With all their affections are set “on things on the earth, they passionately pursue their lusts for earthly glories. Already, thousands have begun to ask “… where is the promise of His coming, for since the fathers fell asleep all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation?” (II Pet. 3:3).

It might be long since He spoke in dreams to the Babylonian King! It might be long since Daniel rightly the recovered and interpreted Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. It might be long Jesus came, died, resurrected and promised He will be coming back again. Even, it might be long since John the revelator and the other Apostles wrote about His second coming. But now that we are closer to the end, it won’t be long again. Get set! You are a pilgrim here.

As a believer in Jesus, you are a pilgrim here. You don’t belong here. Jesus declared it in John 17:14: “I have given them your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, jus as I am not of the world”.

We are on pilgrimage to the heavenly, eternal home. So, why have we abandoned our heavenly hope in pursuit of the earthly? We ought to live as strangers in this world. Our sojourn here will soon be over. Yes it won’t be long again. He will come to take us home.

Will Christ meet faith on earth when He Returns? Believe it or not: the coming of Jesus Christ is very near. It is “sooner than soon”, as I sang in my maiden album.  Get set now for the Lord’s coming.  If truly your eternal desire is heaven; get ready now.  Brace up for the King’s coming now, lest you get your soul damned for eternity.

The Ultimate Controller

True God given prophecy is forceful, ever loaded with the divine power for fulfillment. It has in it that power to enforce its own fulfillment. God is the ultimate power controlling thrones and times. He’s the Alpha and the Omega of all things. He controls the heavens and the earth; thrones and nations; things and goings. The unchangeable Changer dictates the destiny and destination of every age and people. He’s the ultimate controller. So whatever God says cannot but come to pass.  He said that Jesus His Son is coming back .His word is a mighty force of prophecy. Sooner or later, it will come to fulfillment at the fullness of time. His word will come to pass. Prepare now!

God has numbered the kingdoms of the earth. Time is running out. It passes away so swiftly. The king of glory is coming back. Yes, He’s coming soon. Are you preparing for His coming? Will you be partaker of the rapture? Will you be on the roll at the Bema Seat? Will you be worthy of the marriage super of the Lamb? Ponder now!

It is a tragedy when the believer lives in ignorance of the time we are now. Your inability to read God’s handwriting on the wall of time is nothing but spiritual blindness. The Lord’s inscription on the wall of this age, and to the thrones of this world, is the same that was sent to King Belshazzar:  “MENE, MENE TEKEL, UPHARSIN” (Read Dan. 5:25-28).

The time up! God has numbered the kingdoms of this age, and finished it. Kings and thrones have been weighed and found wanting. The time is up!  Brace up! You’ve got to be nearest; for time is earnest. Time flies. Our fleeting days are telling fast. Seasons passes away fast. For many, it is death, for others, it may be tribulations, and for some, it may be rapture. Time Up!

The die will soon be cast. Oh, friend, time is up. And you’ve got to be earnest, for God is earnest. Watch and pray; before your season passes away. The Lord the Stone of glory is at the door to take over the thrones of the kings and dominions. He is coming to establish His righteous dynasty and shall reign in everlasting dominion. Time up!

And your personal kingdoms are being numbered also. Yeah, your throne and values are being weighed. Will you be found wanting? Will you be finished with this dying unbelieving world? Think, friend, think deep. O, think deeper!

The Creator has numbered all thrones and values of this age. God, who told Abraham of the 400years’ sufferings and the glorious deliverance of Israel, even 600years before it took place, and brought His word to fulfillment just as He said, has numbered the kingdoms of this age. The Lord who revealed the Kingdom image to Nebuchadnezzar when only Babylonia Empire was actually known and it came to be as He had said will not fail. He will bring to pass all that He has spoken concerning the coming of Christ the Stone.

But will you reign with Christ in His coming Millennium reigns on Earth? Time out! Think deeply now. Put your house in order; effect those changes you need now. He’ll come like a thief in the night.  (Thess. 5:2) May you and I join overcomers’ choir to sing this song of dominion when the King comes:

In the Millennium
When my King comes to reign
On the David’s throne
I will reign with Him…
{John B. JOSEPH}

The force of prophecy cannot be hindered. He will come! Remember how the birth of Samson, John de-Baptist, the Messiah Christ came in fulfillment to Prophecy! The Lord who spoke through His prophets concerning Israel’s 70 years captivity in Babylon; and the deliverance that was to follow, and caused it happened just as spoken, will soon windup His eternal programs on the earth with the appearing of Christ in the air.  Christ will come just as spoken in the prophecies.

Beloved, what has God spoken to you, personally? Don’t be tempted to handle His promises with unbelief. Watch! His words are yea and amen! (Num. 23:19).

Get ready now, before the judgment throne is set. Oh, vengeance will be ready when the day of His mercy is gone.  The truth remains that life is given to be brief. Like it or not, like a fallen leaf, you will soon be void of life. So you’ve got watch it. Yes, if you have heaven to go, you must watch both your love and your lusts for the things of this world. Those beautiful flowers in your life will soon give way to decay. Youth, beauty and pleasure must one day fade away.

Jesus should be the all that matters in our lives.  Make Him your final, golden choice today. Make Him your sovereign Lord, at all cost. Let Him be your affectionate love, lest you lost your only soul in the blackness of eternal darkness. Danger is gravely looming. Awake and arise! Tidy up!  Fill up your lamps with extra oil! Light up your lamp! It will soon be too late.

Hello, my dear sinner friend, hasten up your steps to the fountain of Christ blood. Get that bondage of sin and unrighteousness broken now in your life. Yea, Calvary still calls! Run to His redemption ground for your eternal life and total liberty! We are already in the midnight watches.

It’s high time that sinners found the Savior. It’s high time that backsliders got restored. It is high time that wanderers returned home. Stop your mad race for the worldly riches, fame and power! God blesses His own without sorrow. Stop your wild, wicked game for political and diabolical powers. Fear His righteous judgment and turn from your evil ways now. It will soon be too late.

Hi, dear friend. Stop erecting your life’s structures on the sinking sand of sin. Floods and tempest will soon sweep them away. Jesus is the only sure foundation to build upon. Lean fully on Him and your eternity with Him will be sure. He is the Stone to build upon!

I call now to you, oh, backslider; quit that valley of spiritual coldness now. Turn to Christ the Rock and get your heart filled with His pure and hot flame.

Chapter 6

JESUS COMES SOONEST

In my maiden musical album, titled Sooner Than Soon, I sang the lyrics of the imminent return of Christ the King of glory, and the rapture of His saints the bride. Oh, how glorious shall we be when Jesus comes to crown us to reign? How lovely shall it be when you and I are counted worthy to wear the crowns!

Be prepared for the most glorious morning that will soon be. It was for this glorious dawn that the ten virgins waited, all through the midnight watches. The glorious day will be when Jesus Christ, our bridegroom appears in the air.

Jesus will come for His spotless bride. What a glorious dawn it will be when He comes in His dazzling glory! Brace up, brethren; we are at the terminal edge of the night. The midnight watches will soon give way to the most glorious morning. You and I can’t afford to miss it.

The trump of the arch-angel will soon sound the voice, to herald the King’s appearance in the air. It’s going to be in a twinkling of an eye, yeah, like a thief in the night. You’ve got to brace yourself up for this imminent glory. Brace up! The rapture belongs to all ready Saints. Or aren’t you preparing for it? Be ready now! Christ the king is coming to catch up His ready, spotless, bride. Prepare yourself now for the glorious day.

Have you ever thought of the glories that shall be for the Lamb’s bride, after the rapture? Oh, the seven years of rapturous celebration in the air with the Christ the Groom! Then, the glowing wonders of the marriage supper of the lamb! What about the great rewards to be given at the Bema seat of judgment! And more; we shall be appointed to reign with Him in His millennium (1000 years) reign on earth. And to crown it all; we shall spend our glorious eternity in heaven! You’ve got to think through on these eternal values and brace up to be a partaker.

Be warned! It’s dangerous not to partake in the coming rapture. In fact, it’s woeful and tragic. Should a believer miss the rapture, he will be left on earth to suffer with sinners. If you’re not caught up to meet the Christ in the air at His coming,  prepare to experience the hardship of the great tribulation that shall be during the reigns of the antichrist. For seven years, while the saints celebrate with Christ in the air, those on earth will suffer unbearable troubles and tortures. Each person will be compelled to receive the mark of the beast, 666, on their foreheads or hands. Without this mark, none will be able to buy or sell. It will be one darkest moment in the anal of history. Many will look for death, but will find none.

So we all must brace up for a glorious triumph over the evils of this perilous hour. It is time to shun compromise, stand firm in faith and watch unto prayer. Let us live in the light and salting the earth. We are the light of the world, the salt of the earth.

It is dangerous to join the mixed-multitude of these days. We have been warned to take heed to ourselves. Never be deceived by those so-called ‘gospel’ ministers, who are merchandizing the gospel of Christ. Take heed!

Which Eternity Are You Going?

You’ve got to decide. When your personal opinions, pastor’s beliefs and denomination doctrines differ from God’s own standard and you hold firm to it, which eternity are you preparing for, heaven or hell?  Human principles and philosophies may sound like the word of God; they can never be. To walk at liberty this end time, test every spirit and live in the light of the WORD.

Is your name written in Lamb’s book of life? Listen, it isn’t church ‘membership register’ that will determines your place of eternity, but His book of life. Be very sure you get your name in today. The horrors of the great tribulation years aren’t for you and me.

When Jesus Comes

But when the morning come, friend, shall we surely meet as bride to Christ the Groom?  Time up! Brace up now!  Get yourself ready for the glorious morning!  The glorious dawn is already at the door! Jesus will come soon! When Jesus comes, our broken tears, fears and sighs will all be gone. When He comes, our dark and storming days will be over. When He comes, glorious light of calmness, wonders and love will be dawn on us. And how glorious will it be when you and I end this tedious journey in that eternal bliss. It will be the greatest marvel ever seen.

When Jesus comes, our spent and labors will be rewarded. Therefore, let’s not be weary, no matter how dreamy the way may have been. For even when we toil in sorrow, ours shall be the greatest joy when the Lord comes. We must therefore live with this hope, if we are to be well focused, rugged and uncompromising as Christ’s ambassadors and pilgrims on earth. It’s time to tidy up for the coming King!

Tidy Up

Have you noted that as the kingdoms of this earth progresses they lose their worth? Have you come to the understanding that the farther we go in the things of this world, the less valuable they appear? Since the days of Babylonian Empire, this world has been moving from gold to silver, from Silver to brass, and from brass to iron. And now we are in the age of iron and clay mixture.

Are you one of the millions who place all their hopes and trust in the fading glory of this world? Take this book as a bell of divine warning. It is the last hour! Tidy up. If you need to put anything in order in your life, be fast to do it now. The trumpet will soon sound, and I doubt it if can afford to miss the rapture or wait below here to face the great tribulations. Repent! Turn from your own ways today. Make God your trust and damn the consequences. Turn over your life to the Christ of God. He is the coming sovereign Stone appointed to dismantle all the world’s kingdoms and their values.

Chapter 7

BRACE UP!

You’ve got to brace up for the soon coming King. Like those ten virgins mentioned by the Lord in the twenty fifth chapter of Matthew, true believers are virgins betrothed to Christ the king. We are His royal bride-to-be, affectionately loved, and soon to be married. And, we must preserve our virginity as we patiently wait for the day of our wedding: Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. (Eccl. 9:8)

We are in a critical moment of times. The darkness is filling! The Bridegroom tarries! Believers are fully asleep! The lamps are going out! The midnight watches have been indeed critical.

It is night; darkness besieges.
It is dark; virgins slumber
It is night; saints all asleep
It is dark; lamps go out. {John B. JOSEPH}

We’re in the last day. Perils of the perilous time roar dangerously against men. You’ve got to be on guard.  Guard yourself well with God’s armor of light. Guard now yourself lest you fall also into the follies of the age we live. Many a thousand believers are turning away from the faith already.

As we go deeper into the night, the darker things become. Foolish virgins are all around us, playing gimmicks with values of eternity. Perhaps they wait for the day-break to prepare for the home! Oh, late preparation is nothing but sheer folly. So watch it. It will take you God’s supernatural wisdom to save yourself from last minute preparation. Get prepared now! The Bridegroom will soon appear, but late preparation will spell doom: “And while they went to beg, the bridegroom came, and they that were ready went in with Him to the marriage, and the door was shot. (Matt. 2510)

Avoid last minute preparation. The foolish ones in the Jesus’ parable returned lately, crying “Lord, Lord, open to us”; to no avail. No mercy will come your way when the die is already cast. Get strengths for the journey now. Turn from your wanderings and get His grace for your weakness. Be very wise now. It’s time for the home coming. Folly wins no mercy.

With sorrows virgins lament.
When the door is shut
Folly wins no mercy.

The present spiritual darkness is divine meant to be an interlude. It cannot be a permanent order. This dark interlude is to usher us to the great shinning day.  So we need to trim dying lamps, and keep the light burning.

Are you also experiencing the dark interlude in your life, home or community? Brace-up, dear fellow; trying days are always a dark interlude. Certainly your sun will shine. All your life’s battles will soon give way to great victory. All those hard experiences, violent assaults of wicked forces, diverse storms of life, and befalling terrors are but an interlude to your glory era.

You will soon have a new song. There will be song in the night. Brace up! You will soon laugh and sing and dance.  Lay hold on God’s promises and power. Rest on the arm of faith. You will be lifted to your throne in life.

How to Be A Wise Virgin

Beloved, now is your time to make the right choice. The best decision a believer can take today is enrolling in the college of wise virgins. Be among wise believers of the age. It is a decision to take, though it bears a high cost. And what does it cost to be a ‘wise virgin’? The followings, among others, form the right answer.

True Repentance

You must seek salvation through repentance from sin and faith in Christ Jesus. This is what it cost to be redeemed by Christ’s blood.  Get to the Cross now. Rid your life of sins and uncleanness. Turn to God through faith in Christ redemption works. Jesus waits to have you in His loving arm.  This first step espouses you to Christ, the Groom, making you His bride.

For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy, for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. (II Cort. 11:2)

Chastity and Purity

Two, go for chastity and purity. We are in the dark times; there are foul ‘believers’ everywhere. But you must ensure that your wedding garment is all white and pure. Fear God and renounce evil. To consistently go on shining as lamp in your Christian race, you just have to turn from the dark ways of this world. The Lord calls us holiness. Be pure and holily. Keep yourself pure! The call to purity is a serious one. Keep yourself pure from any kind of defilement: “Thou hast a few names…which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white; for they are worthy”. (Rev. 3:4)

Jesus gravely warned us against defilement. We must keep our wedding garment pure till He comes: “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth and keepeth his garment, lest he walks naked, and they see his shame. (Rev. 16:15) The tragedy of this perilous time is that many saints have lost their garments. Where is your wedding attire, friend? The Lord made it clear that doom and gloom await all who have no wedding garment.

And when the king came in… He saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment… Then said the King to the servants, bind him hand and foot, and take Him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall  Be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matt. 22 11-13)

The Spirit Fullness

Three, get the Spirit fullness in you. The anointing is the greatest treasure you must seek for and obtain. God gives all sincere seekers. With the Holy Spirit in us, we are meant to be “bright burning lamps. John the Baptist was. Our spiritual compositions ought to be like that of the living creatures, whose appearances were like “burning coals of fire”.  Like the lamps before the heavenly throne, we are to be a burning supernatural furnace. This we need to bring real transformation to our lives and impact those around you.

Hear what God said to David: “I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed…” Like David, we are God’s temple and we’ve got “to cause the lamp to burn always”. (Excl. 27:20) the Spirit’s fullness is all that we need to dispense God’s full flame and glory. We need it also to radically change into Christ image, “from glory to glory”. (II Cort. 318).

Wake up! It is your time to give a perpetual burning to the dying world, even in this dark, midnight watches. It’s your season to hold-forth in soberness, functioning as “… the shinning of a flaming fire by night”.

Holy-Ghost baptism is given not just to make us tongue-speakers. It opens to us God’s unlimited treasures, meant to be grabbed to bring illumination and glory upon this lost generation. The age we belonged needs flaming anointed servants of God. Only blazing unction has the answer to the present spiritual crisis in the body of Christ, and the world at large.

We all need the Spirit’s fire to run the Christian race to the end. Only fools run it without being armed with God’s ‘Oil-burning lamp’.  No fire-less saint can survive the perils of this dark moment. All such dying saints are salt-less, light-less and thus unprofitable. Fireless Christians are irrelevant to God’s last day’s programs on earth. How can you be, when you are not even illuminating your family and immediate surroundings? How can you, when you offer neither heat nor glowing? We must be red hot to win the world and to win the crown also. Be ablaze for Christ! It’s possible to be glistering and flaming for the Lord.

Awake! You’ve been too long in slumber. Prop up yourself for refining exercises. Be rekindled with Christ’s holy flame! The King isn’t coming for any lukewarm “saints” (Rev. 3:15).

Win the Price

Four, run with the aim to win the trophies. In view of winning the price, we must run the race according to the rules of the game: And if a man also strives for masteries, yet is he not crown except he strive lawfully (2 Tim. 2:5)

How do we strive lawfully? It is by keeping to the rules of the game. Keep to His given standards, with the mind set of winning the prize. This was Apostle Paul’s position: “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain. (I Cort. 9:24)

Now, you ask; ‘what are the rules of the game’? The first is patience. We’re in a race that demands patience, therefore, “…let us run with patience the race that is set before us”. (Hebr. 12:1). The second is endurance. Ours is a race that demands lots of endurance. Therefore, no withstanding the hardship and horrors of the night, let us persevere till the end: “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved”. (Matt. 2413)

The next is self-discipline. Therefore, let us lay aside every weight that hinders smooth, successful race. Let’s do away with all besetting sins that we may run and win the price when the LORD comes. This rule is to guard us against throwing caution to wind, since we do not know when He will come. He had said He’ll come like a thief in the night, and that demands for sober alertness. Let’s brace for a good night watch:  “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the son of man cometh. (Matt. 25:13).

Seek the Extra Graces

Five, to victoriously outlive this midnight watches, you will need the extra graces of God. We all must earnestly seek for the extra portions of His graces of love, kindness, mercies, meekness, and so on: Put on therefore, as the elect of God…bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness and longsuffering; for bearing one another, and forgiving one another … And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. (Col. 3:12-14)

We need the Spirit’s reservoir in our lives for extras of His fruit, graces and gifts.  Extra-oil is needed for the night hour when lamps are going out. These extras will help us to live victoriously in this perilous time. It offers sure hope for triumphing as wise believers in this godless age, and provides uncommon strengths to go the extra-miles in exploits making: “But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps”. (Matt. 25:4) It takes the extra-oil to win tomorrow. Get the wisdom divine. Fill your vessel with the extra-oil.

With God’s extra graces in your reservoir, you will attain unto true righteousness. Jesus frankly taught this: “For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter”.

Beloved, as the night becomes darker, let’s not forget that the glorious light will come just after it. Our present breakthroughs, wealth, honor, promotion and safety will fade away, when we finally hook the King of glory.

So, will all our sorrows and sighs, woes and wars will fly away when with Him we are greatly aglow with exceeding joys. Let us strive to be counted among His wise virgins, as we patiently keep the vision of the wise virginity, having the extra oil in our reservoirs.

The wise virgins danced with joy
As their trimmed lamps burned a new;
Then sang they the great joy,
When their Groom’s bosom romanced {John B. JOSEPH

Chapter 8

THE MASTER KEY

Watching unto prayer is always the master key to triumphant living in the perilous hour. Prayerlessness will drown the saint into the dark ocean of this evil age. Devil is doing all in his power to kill believers’ prayer life. But we must rise with courageous faith to challenge him and destroy his powers. It is time to align praying to faith, standing on Christ’s redemption ground, declaring the triumphs of the Cross. Satan bows where faith triumphs.

Jesus told His disciples to watch and pray, if they must not fall into temptations. Watching and praying offer immunity against temptation and sin. Hence, you need to wake up from prayerlessness, and train up yourself in the art of mighty praying of faith. We all ought to be triumphant praying warriors. Let us watch unto prayer: “And the end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. (I Pet. 4:7).

In the verse quoted above, watching unto prayer is connected to being sober and at alert. We must, in sober reflection, be sincere in putting ourselves to proper scrutiny, each passing moment. Being sober and always at alert will help you to maintain a state of readiness for the rapture. It will help you to stay worthy and in a state ‘rapturable’: “Therefore, let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” (I Thess. 5:6)

Furthermore, alertness demands self-examination. Examine yourselves in every way possible, whether you are still in faith or not: “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves… “(II Cort. 13:5). This implies we constantly examine your relationship with God and with His word, on daily basis. Check up your faith, lifestyle and habits. Evaluate the quality of your faith-life and relationship with fellow men.

Watching unto prayer is also connected to studying and meditating on the word of God. This is becoming a burdensome task to many believers in these last days! I personally see it as nothing but satanic machination, in his declared war against the fruitfulness of the Word (seed) in the saints. Devil has taken his battles to our gates and we seem not to care.

Let’s go back to the word. It is time to rise above satanic devices. The Bible is the container of God’s treasures for us. We must go back to the art of spiritual meditation in the Scripture. We need to go beyond reading, studying and researching to fruitful meditation on the Bible, tapping deep into God’s invaluable treasure. It is by so doing that our faith is nurtured, and strengthened to make a faith-giant of us. Every believer needs to spend lengthy time each day, feeding on the bread of life. We can only be as closer to God as we are to His word.

Today’s lazy teachers and pastors are in the enterprise of copying messages from books, internets and tapes. No wonder, all we now have are doctrines and philosophies of men. Messages that lack personal revelation of the preacher often do no good to his hearers. God expects His servant to draw their messages and teaching inspirationally from His heavenly altar, in their spiritual closet. [I Thess 1:5]

More so, several spiritual leaders are under heavy satanic bombardment. Their spiritual privacy are being monitored, besieged and invaded by demon hosts. Indeed, the Word’s life-line is always their prime target, and next to it is our prayer life.

My dear good reader, your church leader needs your constant intercessory prayers to serve you better: “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you”.

(2 Thess 3:1)

Friend, what value do you place on spiritual art of meditating on the scriptures?  Until your relationship with the Word is right, all things cannot but go wrong. You need to come to the understanding that the Word is the heaven’s treasure for the earning of your life’s blessings. Therefore, reposition yourselves for the discovery of the mysteries of the Word of life. It will lighten you up from within and enrich you with the flame-seed needed for personal and global revival.

Brace up and “…let us draw near to God here(I Sam. 14:36).

The Sentry Mission

Next in line here is the great commission. Today’s militant church is losing out the victory because we’ve outdated personal evangelism. Where are the soul winners that filled churches with “such as should be saved”? All we do now is to congregate the church with unsaved, through carnal invitation and fleshly motivated methods.

But we’ve got to move from militancy to triumphalism. And in this practical evangelism is the key. Let’s step into the battle front and rescue devil’s captives. We are meant to be the church triumphant, not church militant. The gospel seeds must be sown into every fertile heart and soil. It’s harvest time. Let’s go forth in the flame and power of the Holy Ghost, proclaiming the great gospel of our Lord Jesus. Let’s enthrone the message of the Cross everywhere, preaching Christ to all. For, we cannot just afford to be unfruitful.

Occupy till I come” was Christ’s standing order to the disciples. How dangerous it is for a believer to be dumb and inactive in this harvest time! Harvest revival is destined to precede His glorious coming and that urgently wants all hands on desk.

Let Jesus Christ be our message as it was in Acts. Not money or materialism. Jesus is given to be our message and not any of those philosophies many preachers are busied preaching today.

Let us involve in all types of evangelism – one-on-one personal evangelism, tract evangelism, mass evangelism, village outreaches, highway missions, prison and hospital outreaches, among types. We must take the gospel to Urban and Rural arrears to foreign and home fields. Christ commissioned us to take the gospel to the end of the world. Time Up! Arise! Be a wise believer “that bear the fruit of righteousness and win soul”. (Prov. 11:30)

It is time you be involved in house to house evangelism, prison and hospital outreaches. It is time to storm the highways of drug addicts, arm-robbers, homeless wanderers and prostitutes with the gospel power. The time is ripe for church teamwork and networking for open air gospel campaigns in cities, towns and villages. Let’s take over digital cables and television houses, internet and social networks for the purpose of global evangelization. It is disastrous for any Christian to be inactive.

This universe needs the onward sweep of the gospel. We need a million offensive campaigns to conquer lost souls and reach unreached lands. The perishing must be saved, lost sheep must be found, and the prodigals must be brought back home. Ours is the mandate to reach the world with the gospel and to disciple all nations.

Do you know that there are more lands yet to conquer? Of the world’s nearly 24000 ethnic groups, over 10,000 tribal groups have not heard the gospel at all. The most unreached area of the world, popularly named “the 10/40 window” is made up of about 1.45 billion population. Most of them here are Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists. They live in object poverty. The Christian world is just about 1.97billion of the world’s nearly 7 billion people. In one-word, when you add the unreached in the evangelized area, with 1.45 billion in the unreached areas, you have nearly 4.5billion outside the gospel.

The lost-world needs aggressive soul-winners. This includes people without evidences of New-life who are around about us. Even though many of them go to churches, there are evidences of new life in them.

The question is how and when will these unsaved ones be reached with the gospel of Christ? Several people die daily without Jesus, and the church of Christ is busy counting money, and competing with the world’s’ richest achievers. The coming of Christ is nigh. This is the urgency of the great commission. Only the harvest revival can do this work. And we need it now.

Let’s join the Lord’s harvest team now! It’s the season of harvest already. You and I cannot afford to be spectators in this perilous time. Isn’t it unfortunate as we watch Muslims on the offensive ‘Jihad’ and terrorism insurgency? They are busy strategizing to conquer the world for their Allah! It’s time for the Christian ambassadors to stop fighting local wars. Let’s move from defensive to offensive. We are sent to possess the very gates of the enemies in all nations on earth.

Global harvest demands everything in us. We must consecrate and surrender all for its actualization. The Lord needs our heart’s loyalty; He needs our energy, intercession, time, money and materials. You need to reconsider giving your all for the Lord and His work of soul-harvest. We can only be successful when we give our all to it. This should be our commitment as an army of dedicated disciples.

You cannot afford to be dumb, if truly you have the life and Spirit of Christ in you. Open wide your mouth and God shall fill it with prophetic messages to your friends. Deal with timidity now and preach Jesus to your boss and colleagues at work place. Talk the gospel to fellow students and neighbors. It takes true courage and wisdom to win any lost souls these last days. Brace up! Win a soul today, and every other day will speak for your favor.

Let’s be constrained by an undying love for the Christ and the lost. Let no sacrifice be too much to make. Let’s willingly lay down our-lives and our all to accomplish much for the king. This is the clarion call for you and me. Brace up, friend, it is the midnight already! Brace up! Winning souls for Jesus is a debt you and I must pay:  “I am debtor both to the Greeks and to the Barbarians, to the wise and to the unwise…to preach the gospel to you…” (Rom. 1:14-15).

Life & Love & Power

HGS – THE CHRISTIAN WORKER – B. B. John, Joseph

1

General Introduction

Text: 2 Tim. 1 – 4

The Christian worker is God’s own servant, called to labour with God in His Vineyard. He must have being a saved fellow, for God chiefly uses His children to do His works.

Our services in the Vineyard must bring benefits to the Lord who called us to work. Of what benefits is your work to God and His Kingdom? The pertinent question is ‘how can our services be profitable to the Lord?

  1. We ourselves must first become acceptable sacrifices to God, if our services are to be acceptable. He who will serve must first become a new creature in Christ Jesus.
  2. We must do His work in accordance to His given pattern and in conformity to His will.
  3. We must meet God’s requirements in the divine service. These include serving with the spirit of love, obedience, humility, faithfulness, loyalty, purity, and diligence.
  4. We must keep friendly fellowship with God in Spirit. Friendship demands unbreakable companionship, which is fundamental to success in the supreme service.
  5. Never must we serve in the flesh. We must shed off the old man and put on the ne man created after Jesus Christ. Whatever is done in the flesh is sin.
  6. We are to serve in the Spirit. Only what is done in the Spirit is acceptable and profitable.
  7. We must never place greater value on charisma but rather on character. He who serves by the ego of charisma at the expense of character must end the race at the harbor of “I don’t know you, you worker of iniquity”

Transformation Discourse:

What does apostle Paul means by this saying: “our works shall be tried by fire…”

Mem. Vs. 1 Thess. 1: 3

Prayer Points:

  1. Lord, break me down and mould me fitted for your glorious use.
  2. Father, make me a golden vessel in your hand.

2. MEN IN SUPREME SERVICE

Text: 1 Pet. 1: 12

The uniqueness of working for God is related to the sovereignty of God and supremacy of His divine service. The worth of God’s service is unequalled. Its benefits are greatest and eternal in values. He who works with God is noblest among men. But how should men in the service of God handle His supreme task?

  1. We must come to embrace the truth that God uses His blood purchased people to do His works on earth. He who desires to serve the Lord must be genuinely born again.
  2. We must also know that God looks at the heart. Being born again isn’t enough.  You must possess a loyal, meek and godly heart.
  3. We also need to seek God’s face for sovereign graces and divine enablement to serve Him faithfully, heartily and acceptably.
  4. We must humbly accept the truth that God’s work must be done in God’s way. He who does it any other way has labour in vain.
  5. We must learn to always give all glory to Him. Glorifying the Lord is the grand reason for working with Him. He who serves for fame or fortunes has no reward.
  6. We must live and operate by the Spirit. Whatever is done in the flesh is lost. Only what is done in the Spirit is counted for a reward.

Transformation Discourse:

Like Moses we all must learn to build the Tabernacle according to the pattern “shown to on the mountain”. How do we follow the divine prescription in serving God in His Vineyard?

Mem. Vs. Jhn 6: 29

Prayer Points:

  1. Lord, teach me the way of acceptable service.
  2. Jesus, fill me with your Holy Spirit and enable me to serve your aright.

3. YOUR OLD PERSONA

Text: Rom. 7: 1 – 6

You were once a man under the power and penalty of sin. Every born again was ‘only a sinner saved by grace’. Do not forget that your sinful old nature would still strive to work by the frailty of your flesh. This old persona will war constantly against your new persona in Christ. How do you handle it?

  1. When Your Old Persona raises its ugly head; you must to walk in the Spirit to shelve it off. With the Spirit always comes the grace to nail the flesh and put on the new man. {Gal 5: 24 – 26; Eph. 2:1-6, Rom. 6:11- 18}
  2. With the understanding of the war between the natural man and the spiritual man, you must partner the Spirit to be spiritually minded. { 7:14-23; Gal. 5:16, 17; 1 Cor. 9:24 – 27; 10:11-13}
  3. Always be thankful to God for Your Salvation. We are all sinners saved by grace. {Rom. 3:9, 23- 24; 5:6- 10/}
  4. Live to manifest your redemption right, graces and gifts. Strive to know your new position in Christ and live by by that knowledge. Seek to become an epitome of His life, love, gifts and power. { Rom. 8: 1 – 17; 5: 22 – 23; Luke 10: 19; 1 Cort. 7 – 12; Eph. 4: 10 – 16}

Transformation Discourse:

Jesus as the Savior of the World provided the needed salvation. He came, lived, died and resurrected to give repentance and salvation to all men’. Tell the class how you were saved.

Mem. Vs. Hebr. 9: 14

Prayer Points:

  1. Holy Spirit, help me to live and walk in your fullness in Jesus name
  2. Holy Spirit, empower me to exercise dominion over sin and carnality.

4

YOUR NEW PERSONA

Text: Eph. 4: 17 – 32

Your new persona is connected to your new identity in Christ Jesus. It is the eternal life gotten in Him. You must know this and live it out to be effective and successful in God’s work. {Rom. 3:23}. How?

  1. Know your present standing before God – You need to know where you are {a new creature}, and whose you are now {Jesus is now your legal owner}.  John 3:18; Eph. 2:2.
  2. Seek to understand the plights of a natural man and refuse its friendship.  {Gen. 6:5 – 8, 11 -13; Ps. 43:1-3; Matt. 15:18 – 20; Gal. 5:19-21: Rom. 5:7, 8; 1 Cor. 2:14.}
  3. Seek the way of the spiritual man and partner the Spirit to manifest your new identity. Consciously live and work by the Spirit. {Jhn 3:3, 5; 1:14, 16, 12,13; 1 Cor. 15:47-50; 1 Pet. 1:13 – 23; Gal. 4:4-7}.
  4. Take up your new responsibility of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone that comes your way. It is the major responsibility of all who are born again. {Mk 16: 15 – 18; Matt 28: 19 – 20}

Important Note:

The call to Flaminglamps membership isn’t a call to another religion association but rather a call to living and manifesting the fullness of the Holy Spirit. {Rev. 1: 4, 4:5; Eph. 4:13; Acts 1:8, John 7: 39; 1 Cort. 2: 4 – 5}

Transformation Discourse:

‘The natural man lives under the power of sin and flesh, but the spiritual man after the Spirit’. Discuss implications of both kinds of life.

Mem. Vs: Eph. 4: 23 – 24

Prayer Points:

  1. Holy Spirit, visit me in your fullness and ignite me with fresh fire.
  2. Jesus, baptize me in your rivers of living water.

5. THE RESPONSIBLE CHRISTIAN

Text: 1 Cort. 3: 1 – 15

How responsible a Christian are you? Be honest with your answer. It takes being a responsible believer to become a responsible Christian worker. And if you aren’t a responsible type, you had better forget serving the Lord.

 Why does God require responsible Christians to do His work?
  1. Because believer who lacks sense of responsibility is often a minus to the gospel. He causes harm to the Kingdom values. {Vs. 1- 5; Acts  5: 1-10}
  2. Because the irresponsible worker often inflicts negative impact on the soul winning mandate – i.e. the great commission. {Vs. 6 – 8, Mark 16:15}
  3. Because those irresponsible ones among us mostly do God’s work in their own ways, as if it is that of man. {Vs. 12 – 15}
  4. Because only those who are responsible Christians can pay the cost of working with God. The non-responsible ones can only work for God and not with Him.  {Vs. 9 – 11}

Transformation Discuss

How do we identify responsible Christian among brethren in our churches?

Mem Vs: 1 Cort. 2: 5

Prayer Points:

  1. O, Lord, teach me the way of responsible Christianity.
  2. Father, I am tired of working for you; teach how to work with you.

6. THE RESPONSIBLE WORKER

Text: Rom. 7: 6; 2 Tim 1: 11-18

When Jesus stated that “laborers are few” He was pointing to the inadequacy of responsible kingdom workers. He who will be a profitable servant must first be a responsible Christian worker. But who exactly is a responsible Christian worker?

  1. The one who serves God with pure devotion, practical dedication and total commitment. He is wholly and fully in charge of that which is committed into his hand. {2 Tim 1: 14; Lk. 16:10}.
  2. The person who works with a loyal, faithful and truthful spirit. He is honest, trustworthy and accountable to his senior/boss in church or ministry. {  Tim. 1: 14; 1 Cort. 3: 13 -15; {1 Sam. 12: 24}
  3. That meek, humble and lowly fellow. You will always found him teachable, responsive, and answerable both to God and his superior in all his doings.
  4. The one who readily accept being liable for whatever goes wrong or right in what is committed into his hand. He doesn’t apportion blame to others. He holds himself responsible.
  5. The industrious, hardworking, diligent and dutiful worker. He hates laziness, despise indolence and deride slothfulness. .

Transformation Discuss

How do we identify responsible Christian among brethren in our churches?

Mem Vs:  1 Cort. 1 Cort. 3: 8 – 9

Prayer Points:

  1. Father, deliver me of whatever has been making my service to you imperfect.
  2. Holy Spirit, make me your responsible  servant in Jesus name

7. KINGDOM SERVICE CODES

Text: Eph. 5: 1 – 21

Our lifestyles as God’s workers, within and outside the church, should decode Kingdom service code.   This is the prime key to impacting people around us quality of the divine life. How do I mean? It takes living-out the Christlike virtues to offer quality spiritual impartations to the world. So what are the given codes for the Kingdom lifestyles?

  1. A code of purity and holiness. Live as a sanctified vessel to the Lord. Shun waywardness, sexual immoral, drunkenness, smoking, drugs or any such ones. {Eph. 5: 1 – 6, 15 – 18
  2. A code of love and faith: Living the life of agape love and faith must be our lifestyle. He who manifests love and faith truly knows God. { vs. 2; 1 Tim. 1: 5; Col. 1: 23}
  1. A code of meekness: This depicts living a life of lowliness, gentleness and humility. {Acts. 20: 19; Eph. 4: 1- 3}
  2. A code of submission: Be submissive to authority. Submissive church worker don’t travel out of the base, or absent himself without obtaining official permission from the leader. {Vs. 3 – 4, 10; 2 Tim. 2:24 – 25}
  3. A code of true service: Serving God and man with a servant heart is the key. Be hard working, diligent and committed in using your talents, gifts and graces to prosper church’s vision/mission. { Vs. 1, 6; 1 Cort. 12: 6 – 12; 2 Tim 1:6 -7}
  4. A code of loyalty: Demonstrate loyalty in its trueness and totality. It takes transparent faithfulness to stay true to you leader and shun all forms or people of rebellion attitudes, gossip, strife, and disunity.{Vs. 3}
  5. A code of devotion: Be a spiritual minded worker, practice pure devotion in spiritual fellowship in prayer, fasting, word-studies and fellowship. {2 Tim. 3: 15 – 17; Luke 18: }
  6. A code of power: The kingdom of God is to be demonstrated in power and Spirit. 1 Thess. 1: 5; Mrk. 16: 15 – 18}

Transformation Discourse:

How do you keep away from rebellion attitudes, gossip, strife, malice, sectionalism, and disunity within or outside the church/ministry?

Mem. Vs. 2 Cort. 6: 1

Prayer Points:

  1. Forgive my misdeeds, my misgivings and mismanagements in your church, O, Lord
  2. Holy Spirit, help and impart me with you graces and virtues

THE LOYAL WORKER

Text: Jhn. 12: 26; 2 Tim. 1: 8-18

Loyalty remains one of the greatest requirements for the Kingdom worker. He who lacks it isn’t qualified to work with God. Loyalty here has to do with the Biblical concept of loyalty. Let’s briefly examine a few facts about the true Biblical loyalty:

  1. – It is a kind of loyalty that shows respect, love, friendship, fellowship, and cares for leadership – the kind that existed between Paul and Timothy
  2. It rests on Christian allegiance to God’s and His delegated leadership. {Eph. 4: 10 – 13}
  3. It implies standing with, for, and up for your leader. You are to be loyal to him and to his divinely given mission or vision. {Vs. 15 – 18}
  4. It involves seeking out your leader, to understand, encourage and refresh him. This demands that you stay with him, minister to his needs and stand by him, even in trouble times. {Phil. 2:22; 2 Tim. 3:14; 4:9–10 a; 2 Cort. 9:23, Tit.}.
  5. It entails holding on to what you have been taught by him. Especially, all Biblical truths and apostolic doctrines.  2 Tim. 3:14
  6. It means not forsaking the vision/work even when you have reason to do so. { 2 Tim. 1:8, 16; 4: 16; }

Transformation Discourse:

How dangerous, rebellious, divisive, heartbreaking and judgmental could disloyalty in the church/ministry be? Beautify your answer with Biblical examples. {2 Tim. 1; 15; Numb. 16}

Mem. Vs. Jn. 12: 26

Prayer Points:

  1. Lord Jesus, heal my heart of any vices of rebellion and disloyalty.
  2. Father, I need your healing power to purge my heart of all uncleanness and dirt.

9. LOYALTY TO LEADERSHIP

Text: Titus 2: 1-10; 2 Tim. 1: 8-18

Throughout the Bible, God establishes the follow-the-leader arrangement as the ideal way to His working among men. Being loyal to the leader is therefore a basic requirement in serving God right and in positioning yourself for His blessings. How did it work?

  1. God places graces and unction on His appointed leader for the benefit of all who submit to his leadership. {Lk 4: 18 -19}
  2. God only appoints assistants/associates into supportive positions to serve as vision-Helpers, like Aaron, Joshua, Elisha, Gehazi, and 12 disciples.
  3. He who is rude, disobedient, or disloyal to the leader is counted as being rebellious to God who appointed him. {Read Numb. 16}
  4. God holds you disloyal when, as worker or vision helper, you begin to criticize your leader or his policies before people. Your calling is to help and not to criticize him – as Joshua and Elisha did, (Tit. 2:9–10)..
  5. When a leader calls you to join the church/ ministry staffers, God demands that you give your primary loyalty to him, other than to the Lord. {Acts 16:3}.

Transformation Discourse:

Use the stories of Aaron, Joshua, Joseph, David’s mighty men, Elisha, Gehazi and Timothy to elaborate Biblical supportive ministries.

Mem. Vs. 2 Tim. 1: 8

Prayer Points:

  1. Lord, forgive me all my past acts of disloyalty and give me a new heart.
  2. Father, give me the true heart of loyalty in Jesus name

10. WHAT LOYALTY NEVER DOES

Text: 2 Tim. 4: 7- 22

A Christian minister or worker is loyal when he lives and serves faithfully and with loyalty. There are things loyalty will never do. Those who have it never exhibit the following vices against leadership:

  1. Loyalty never stabs the leader in the back. Every loyal worker knows it is unwise, rebellious and dangerous to do so. {Vs. 10, 14 – 18}
  2. A loyal worker will never express disagreements with the leader to others and in public.
  3. He never receives an accusation against his leader unless such accusation can be boldly proven by the accuser in front of the accused. (1 Tim. 5:19 )
  4. He never gossip against the leader / pastor, even when there are doubt and dismay over what is being sayings about him.
  5. He never fails to stand loyal to the leader/ preacher even in hours of crisis.
  6. Even when it becomes apparent that the leader has fallen, that loyal worker stands by him to bring him back to God.
  7. Loyalty never stops from being friendly and supportive. True loyalty calls for positive support and efforts

Transformation Discourse:

One is not a loyal worker simply because he has not acted or spoken disloyally”. Discuss

Mem. Vs. 2 Tim. 3: 14

Prayer Points:

  1. Holy Spirit, renew your grace in me and fill me with your character of loyalty
  2. Father, change me completely, in all areas where I need changes.

11. LOYALTY TO THE WORK

Text: Rom. 12: 1 – 8; 2 Tim. 4: 1- 5

Loyalty always stands true to the gospel work. We are saved to serve the gospel of Jesus Christ and t it we should be committed. How do we stay loyal to the work?

  1. By being spiritually minded in the pursuit of our individual calling: Stay spiritual and beware of any forms of hypocrisy and dishonesty. {Josh. 22: 5}
  2. By being loyal in the right sense of loyalty, and never give an improper, distorted kind of loyalty. {1 Cort. 3: 4-6; 2 Tim. 1:8, 4:10).
  3. By staying true to our calling: Abide within the boundaries of your calling. Whatever you are called to do, do it with integrity and in the fear of God.
  4. By refusing to waste the grace of God in our life. How do men waste the grace of God and thus ruin their calling?
  1. By seeking to control, criticize, undermine, or upstage their leader, instead of giving support and loyalty.
  2. By showing up a better way of doing things than their leaders, sometimes egoistically. But loyalty demands that you await your opportunity to assume headship and hence show off your better way of doing things.
  • By trying to enforce or intrude leadership, when they ought to stay faithful in their subsidiary positions.

Transformation Discourse:

What exactly are the boundaries of the calling of an assistant/associate minister in a local church?  Discuss.

Mem. Vs. Josh. 22: 5

Prayer Points:

  1. Lord Jesus, show me my areas of unfaithfulness in your Kingdom
  2. Father, cure my heart of critical spirits and rebellion attitude

12

LOYALTY TO LIFE INVESTORS

Text: 1 Tim. 5: 17 -19; 2 Tim. 1: 13 – 18

All those who have invested into you life, in one way or the other deserve your loyalty. These include the person who lead you to Christ, the leader who disciple you for Christ, and those who train up men in ministry. The question is: ‘How do we relate to those who have invested their lives into our lives’?

  1. By showing gratefulness to the one who led you to Christ. He/she is your real spiritual father and thus a fountain you dare not forget or neglect. Be loyal to him.
  2. By showing good respect to those who built you up: Every disciple maker deserves loyalty and a great deal of appreciation for building converts up by words and examples. { Hebr. 13:7}
  3. By expressing gratitude to our ministry leaders: These should be blessed with repeated gratitude, even from those who wandered off. {2 Tim. 3: 10, 14 – 17; 1 Tim. 4: 6}
  4. Loyalty to these types of spiritual leaders should be for a lifetime, and not just for the days we draw benefits from their ministry.
  5. To be loyal is to retrain from speaking about and against them. Others may, but not you. Being his his spiritual son, you might incur a curse, if you do.
  6. To be loyal is to love, befriend and fellowship withGood spiritual children ought to be true caring friends, appreciative givers and warm companions to their spiritual parents.
  7. You are also to remain loyal to the truths they taught you. your relationship with them thrives on mutually received doctrinal truths.( Rom. 14; 1 Tim. 4: 16)

Mem. Vs. 2 Tim. 1: 13

Prayer Points:

  1. Father Lord, deliver me from the curse of disloyalty incurred from any leader who’ve invested his life in me.
  2. Lord Jesus, give me the humble heart to correct my wrongs

13. SPIRIT OF GEHAZI

Text: 2 Ki. 5: 1-27

Many Christian workers are like Gehazi. Though they have been with the leader and had seen notable miracles done by God through him, yet they serve the Lord with the spirit of Gehazi. Let’s briefly answer tow vital questions here:

  1. What really is this spirit of Gehazi?

It is a spirit of lying, self-worship, and greed. {2 Ki 4; 2 Ki 5: 20 -23}.

  1. How do we identify people who serve with Gehazi spirit:
  2. He who tells lie against/to his master, as Gehazi did against/to Elisha, serves God with Gehazi’s spirit.  {vs. 20-22, 25}
  3. He who runs after rewards or material values, even against the wishes of his master is actually serving the Lord with a sprit of Gehazi {vs. 23}
  4. All who are on self-sent errand serve with Gehazi’s spirit
  5. He who greedily returns from his self-sent mission to hide the ‘reward’ from his master serve with Gehazi’s spirit. Vs 24

The Consequence: Except they repent, the end of those who serve the Lord with Gehazi spirit is tragedy. ” {2 kings 5: 27}

Transformation Discourse:

Considering the way Gehazi ended his ministry with “the leprosy that was Naaman’s, what are the lessons to learn by gospel ministers/ church workers.

Mem. Vs. 1 Tim. 6: 10

Text: 2 Tim 2:6-15

Diligence is a virtue we all must cultivate, most especially in Kingdom service. It takes a company of diligent workers to move any church forward. Church workers must be meticulous, hard working, and wise if progress and harvest must come. Why?

  1. Diligence is a key to maximizing our God given productive graces and thus become “partakers of the fruits.” {2 Tim. 2: 6-7}

18. THE DISCIPLINED WORKER

Text: 2 Tim 2: 16 – 22

We live in a world that has thrown caution to the wind. Yet, the Christian worker is to live a disciplined life of caution, modesty, purity and power. How do we live such a life as Vineyard workers?

  1. By making a clean break with our sinful past. Doing this demands that you consciously “depart from iniquity”, and be a sanctified vessel. (2 Tim. 2:19).
  2. By endeavoring to live transparent pure life. He who will become vessel of gold in God’s hand must be thorough purged by fire.  (2 Tim. 2:20-21).

God hates pride. It was the reason for the fall of Lucifer. Jesus doesn’t use the proud. He who would serve God must first exemplify the virtue meekness, lowliness and humility. But how can we live such a life in a world where pride is worshipped?

  1. By always asking for the grace and spirit of meekness and humility in our daily prayer. {Eph. 4: 1-2}
  2. By our determination and resolve to be “gentle unto all men”; even to those who oppose us. (2 Tim 2:24-25; {Gal. 6:9}).
  3. By constantly asking for the enabling grace to use the Word of God like a surgeon, and not like a butcher. Mind you; both use knives but differently. {Hebr. 4:12}

  5. By show of humble obedience to our superiors and willingly serve our subordinates, even when being offended by same people.

20. THE DYNAMIC WORKER

Text: Luke 4: 19 – 19; Mark 16: 15 – 18

It takes the Spirit dynamo {fullness} to live and work with vibrant, dynamic spirit. The dynamism, enthusiasm, and vitality required in God’s service always come with the Spirit unction upon our lives. We must be dynamic Christian workers to bring needed benefits to the Kingdom of God.  How do we become just that?

  1. By being constantly filled with the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. {Eph. 5:18}.
  2. By possessing the ability to express the divine call upon our lives and the eagerness to serve God efficiently. {Isa. 61: 1-3}

21. THE VISION CARRIER

Text: John 15: 1 – 8; 2 Tim. 19 – 21

Every good organization has vision. Likewise, every true Christian ministry is divinely envisioned. Though the vision is often given to one man; it takes many people to carry and execute it. The bitter truth is that every Christian worker is called to be a vision carrier of the church/ministry he belongs. What then does it takes to be a vision carrier?

  1. It takes good understanding of the vision of your church/ministry. Personally seek to understand the vision and the mission and get involved for its accomplishing.
  2. It takes recognizing the church as Christ’s spiritual body and submits yourself to her leadership. Submission to Church delegated authority is submission to Christ the head.
  3. It takes sharing or selling the vision to others. It is not enough to understand it, you must become a vision sharer and mission servant. Get zealous and passionate about it.  Choose to be a player and not spectator.
  4. Prepare to spend your life serving the Lord Jesus by serving the gospel and the brethren.
  5. Be eager participant in Christ global mandate through your material and monetary contributions.

22. THE SERIOUS WORKER

Text: 2 Tim. 3: 14 – 17

Serious Christian workers are known by their fruitful studious and prayer life. They have in-depth knowledge of the Word of God and are praying champions. How do we cultivate the seriousness of spiritual living?

  1. Accept the truth that leadership position makes no one a true spiritual leader. It takes cultivating spiritual seriousness to become one. {Matt 23: 11 -12; Lk. 22:25 – 27}
  2. Possess the key to enjoying God’s ever refreshing presence through establishing personal spiritual closet with Him. Be a good and continuous student of the Bible and a fervent prayer Christian. {Jhn 15; 1 – 3; Psm. 24: 3-5}
  3. Study the Bible to discover God, man and the world. The Scriptures unveils God and gives us the capacity to learn about ourselves and of the world we live in. {vs. 15 -16; 2 Tim 2:1 5}
  4. Learn to acquire the secrets to solving many life problems through meditation in the Word and fervent praying. { Psalm 1: 1 -3; 25:14}
  5. Study the Bible to find out what God has said about man’s struggles in life. Use Bible study aids and the power of ‘prayer of faith’ to bring solution to life challenges. {Rom. 1:20}
  6. Explore the Internet to find truths related to Godly values, life-uplifting nuggets and Kingdom building. We can do this without being polluted by online worthless information.
  7. Research good books of Christian authors with the aim to obtain spiritual blessings, knowledge, and counsels needed for personal development.  {Jhn 5: 39 – 40}

Transformation Discourse:

‘Unserious Christian workers are they who have no time to study the Word. All they are after are their secular jobs, family matters, and church activities/ meetings’. Discuss.

Mem. Vs. Jhn 5: 39

Prayer Points:

  1. Lord, make me a soberly committed Christian
  2. Jesus, deliver me of every habit of unseriousness and empower me up and going for you.

23. HANDLING LIFE CHALLENGES

Text: James 1: 2- 8;

Being a Christian worker doesn’t free one from facing the storms of life. Jesus made it clear that the house built on the rock suffers the same fate as the one built on the sand. So, both believers in Christ and unbelievers will face challenges of life, but the difference will always be one being a victor and the other a victim. How do we emerge victorious over the storms of life?

  1. Seek to rise above your challenges. They are meant to work for your good. Understand that God works through all things for our good – good or bad and rise up as valiant on the wings of faith.
  2. Refuse to be caught up emotionally:  As gospel servant, channel your emotions suitably towards joy, excitement, and love. This implies that you shut out sorrow, depression and anger and express sweetness, loveliness, peace, and happiness. {Eccl. 3}
  3. Personally ‘bear your own burdens’ before the Lord: This is part of being a responsible worker. To a level, we can keep going on in life while casting or “heavy yoke” before Christ.  (Galatians 6:5).
  4. Work hard on your problem prayerfully: with prayer and fating, work ceaselessly on the problem but be sure that all you do about it is Biblical.
  5. Call for intercessors’ helping hands: You can as well engage the intercessory commitment of known trusted brethren who has all it takes to stand in the gap for you. Jms. 1: 5- 8
  6. Seek divine covenant dimension: Like Moses and David use resources at hand such as material possession, graces and gifts to covenant with God to turn those challenges to opportunities.   (Exd. 3; 1 Samuel 17).
  7. Do exercises: No matter what you are going through, be devoted to both physical and spiritual exercises. Though the spiritual is more important, physical training is often of great value. (1 Tim. 4:6-8).

Transformation Discourse:

How true is the saying: “Whatever challenges we face in life, we transform it to opportunity when we consciously commit to doing something about it”?

Mem. Vs. 1 Pet. 1: 7

Prayer Points:

24. THE WORKER’S CHILD

Text: Prov. 22: 6

Home life is fundamental to your earning success in Kingdom project. You must therefore take careful looks at raising your household in the fear of God. It is the responsibility of the Christian worker to train up his/her children in the way of the Lord. Eli’s and Samuel’s sons place stigma on their father’s ministry. So train up your children, lest the also become thorns in the flesh of your Christian service.

How do we train up our kids?

  1. We must exercise self-control in our show of love toward them, if we to truly monitor, correct and discipline their behaviors. (Eph.  4:25-32).
  2. We are to consciously lead each of them to Christ, teach them the Word of God daily, and diligently build them to become triumphant saints.
  3. We must let our kids know us as truth-telling parents; father and mother who always tell the truth in love, practically honest, humble and assertive. {Rev. 2:4, 14; 3: 19}
  4. We should be devoted to offering them the needed cares, helps and guidance. To do these successfully, we must be close to them to know their feelings, aspirations, struggles, and challenges.
  5. We shouldn’t be ‘lions’ or ‘wolves’ of our own homes but rather a loving, caring shepherd. Don’t forget: lions roar and tear; wolves snarl and snuff tear, but shepherds tender and guide.
  6. We should never hurt our kids and when we do, we shouldn’t be too big to say sorry. Every corrective quarrel should be done in love and truth.

Transformation Discourse:

Tell the class how you have been training each of your kids “in the fear of God  and how they have been committed to serving the Lord in your local church church.

THE CHRISTIAN SERVICE – BY PASTOR B. B. JOHN, JOSEPH

  1. UNDERSTANDING CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP

Text: Matt. 20: 1-16

Knowing stewardship is vital to successful Christian living and service. It implies the followings:

  1. God Made All Things: The saying “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” declared God as the Creator of all things.
  2. God Owns All Things: It also implies that He who created has absolute rights of ownership over all that He created.
  3. Man as God’s Manager: The doctrine of stewardship is best explained by two Greek words epitropos and oikonomos.
  4. Epitropos means manager, foreman, steward, governor’ or ‘procurator’.
  5. Oikonomos (often use in N.T) means steward, manager, administrator, stewardship, management, arrangement, administration, & order.

Note: We must fully accept & live by this truth. If we miss it here nothing else will ever be of true relevance in our relationship/service to the Lord.

Transformation Discourse:

What are the differences and similarities between Epitropos & Oikonomos?

Memory VerseI Cort. 4:2

Prayer Points:

  1. Lord, prepare me for a glorious use in you vineyard.
  2. Father, teach me the way of true gospel service

2. WHAT STEWARDSHIP ISN’T

Text: Luke 16: 1-13

  1. Christian Stewardship isn’t God taking something from us. It is giving His richest gifts upon His people, making us custodian or guardian of His possessions {Gal. 4:1-2}

  1. It isn’t a result of our own power or abilities. It is a product of that which comes from the Holy Spirit in us – otherwise, our labor is in vain. {Phil. 4: 13. I Cort. 15:10}

  1. It isn’t bragging of our human success. It is obedient witness to Christ’s sovereignty.

  1. It isn’t being the lord of our own life or over others. It is serving others while expressing total submission to the Lordship of Christ.

  1. It isn’t getting saved without fulfilling the great commission. It is being totally committed to the duty of gospel proclamation.

3. BEING A CHRISTIAN STEWARD

Text: Luke 14: 25 -33

What does being stewards of Christ demands of us? What does the Lord expects from His Stewards?

  1. We must acknowledge that we are not our own but belong to Christ. He gave Himself for us to own us. We are His possession.
  • We must identify God as Owner and man as manager.
  • We must live and serve as God’s co-worker. {I Cort. 3: 9}
  1. We must define our purpose in this world in the light of God’s global redemptive mission. (Matt. 28: 19-20)
  2. We must submit to Lord the management of all in our care.{1 Pet. 4:9; 1 Cor. 4:1-2} Why?
  • We’ve no right of control over ourselves & properties. God has.
  • We are only managers of that which belongs to God.
  • He requires godly administration of our finances & properties.
  • He demands accurate payment of our tithes & offerings
  • We should wisely manage time, health, family,& environment.
  • We must propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ. His gospel should dominate our thought, words and actions. {Lk. 9: 1-2; Mk. 16:15-18}
  1. We must portray ourselves as a people constantly under God’s authority in the way we live and administer our lives. {Lk 16: 1-13}

Transformation Discourse: How do we acknowledge ourselves as Christ’s purchased possession and define life purpose by His redemptive mission?

4. RUDIMENTS TO SERVING GOD

Text: Acts 6: 1-6

A genuine encounter with Christ brings positive changes to your life. {2 Cor. 5; 17; 2 Tim. 2:19-21; Titus 2:14; Eph 4:22- 32}

  1. Be Baptized in Spirit – Acts 6:3, 5

Holy Ghost baptism is the Biblical experience you need to have, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. {Acts. 1: 4-5, 8; 2:1-4; 8:15-19; 10: 44-46; 19:1-6}

5. SIGNIFICANCE OF SERVING GOD

Text: Rom 12: 1-8; 1 Pet. 4: 10 -11

It is really essential to serve the Lord heartily. But what is important in serving Him?

  1. Graceline Importance – Rom 12: 3-8

The only way to do this is to first change our priorities to accomplish God’s will on earth. We do this by employing His give gifts and graces to:

  1. Serve Him heartily and effectively.
  2. Serve the brethren in the spirit of love and meekness.

  1. God-ward  Glory Importance – 1 Pet 4:10-11; 1 Cor. 1:29-31

Bringing praise and glory to God on earth is to be the most important. Serving isn’t about us getting glory but Him receiving the glory. How do we send due glory back to God?

  1. Through selflessness display of Christ’s power in our lives. We must trade selfishness for selflessness in every manifestation.
  2. By refusing to accept hero worship from man. We must overcome the love of fame and refuse human worship.
  3. By speaking & serving others on behalf of God; impacting them with the life-changing virtues of Christ. Rm 12:1-2

Transformation Discourse:  Give examples of how people serve God and brethren in the New Testament.

Memory Verse:  Rom 12:6

THE WAY OF TRUE SERVICE

Text: Phil.  2:1 – 19

Meekness is the grand path to true service, and those who travel on it should prepare for tears and trials.  Let’s briefly examine God’s service pathway in the following lights:

  1. Lowliness – Phil. 2: 3-8

Serving the Lord must be with LOWLINESS. It is a prerequisite. Why?

  • It takes lowliness to empty ourselves and take on the form a servant.
  • It takes humbleness to surrender life & rights to Christ and relate to Him as clay in the Potter’s hands.
  • It takes lowliness to treat people with Christ-like graciousness.

  1. Tears – 2 Cor. 11: 22- 33

Serving the Lord often brings TEARS as we:

  • Get involve in people’s struggles for faith, holiness & hope.
  • suffer from physical pain, loss, frustrations, etc. {vs. 31}

  1. Trials – 2 Cor. 11: 22- 33

Serving the Lord could also be with TRIALS because:

  • Constant spiritual warfare with Satan & his hosts. {Acts 20: 29; 1 Cort. 15:32; Matt. 10:16}. But we are to “Count it all joy”.

Transformation Discuss: How happy is it to serve the Lord with tears and trails?

Memory Vs: Phil 2:16

Prayer Points: Lord, increase my faith to stand in the evil day.

7. SERVING THE BRETHREN

I Thess. 5:14

There are three Kinds of people to serve in the church, namely:

The Unruly People – vs. 14a

  • This group includes idlers, dwarfs, and busybodies, gossips stubborn, rebellious, wild, disobedient and disorderly ones.
  • We serve them by warning, admonishing and correction. By so doing we break their ranks and put them in order.

The Feeble Ones – vs. 14b

  • This group includes the unintelligent, fainthearted, easily discouraged, and hopeless ones.
  • We serve by giving them consolation, comfort, encouragement, and persuasion to faith.

The Weak – vs 14c

  • “The weak” are a people without strength, being exhausted, run out, burned out, wrung out and worn out.
  • We serve these morally, spiritually and physically sickly ones when we give helps and supports.

Transformation Discourse: Give a Biblical example for each of the above group

Mem. Vs: I Thess 5:14

 Prayer Point: Lord, make me a noble instrument in your hand to minister to the needs of others

8. SERVING WITH PATIENCE

I Thess 5:14

Serving people demands patience. He who doesn’t have this great virtue can’t really know the joy of serving God and man. Why?

  1. The Christian life is a race that can only be when ran with patience. He who lacks patience loses the crown. {Heb. 12: 1, Jms 1:3}

  1. The call to Christian service is a call to being ‘long-tempered’. We must be tough and durable under pressures. {Rom 2:7, Rom. 5:3}

  1. We need patience to bring forth fruit of righteousness– {Lk. 8:15; 1 Tim. 6:11}

  1. We serve God better when we learn to be patient with brethren and everyone. It takes spirit of patience not to lose our patience as we help others. {2 Tim. 2:24-26}

  1. With spirit of patience in us we will be slow to anger and slow to speak.

Transformation Talk:  What then are the benefits of patience?

Mem. Vs:  2 Tim 2:5

Prayer Points: Holy Spirit, purge me by your fire of spirits of intolerance, anger and pride in Jesus name.

9. CONTENTS OF SPIRITUAL SERVICES

Text: Josh. 24: 14-24

Serving the Lord must involve all that we are and have. it include:

  1. Your Family – Josh 24:15

Your family should the first thing your offer in your spiritual service to God. You are to serve God with your family by:

  • Leading each family member into a living relationship with Christ
  • Serving all family members with hearty love.
  • Supporting and helping each member of the family.
  • Prioritizing your time, interest and funds to uplift the family.

  1. Your Possessions – Matt 25:34-36

  • Be a generous giver towards the furtherance of the gospel.
  • Be involved in charity offers to widows, orphans and poor.
  • Give welfare to ministers, missionaries, and volunteers.

  • Discover, develop and use your talents to serve God and others better.
  • Help others with your skills, talents and spiritual gifts.
  • Passionately serve God, and compassionately serve the brethren.

Transformation Discourse: What are obstacles to each of the three points above?

Mem. Vs:  Josh. 24:15

Prayer Points: God, take my life and all and use it for your glory.

10. CHURCH CALLINGS & MINISTRIES

Texts: Matt 28: 19-20; Mk. 16: 15 – 18

We are called to serve God by serving in the church’s calling and ministries. What exactly are these?

  • It is the global evangelization. We saved to be witnesses of Christ. Every Christian is a witness. Are you? { Acts 1:8}
  • It’s Christian discipleship. When are to live as disciples who communicate their faith daily to others, living and sharing the principles of the gospel to others. Matt. 28:19-20
  • It’s telling the love of Christ. We are saved to tell others that Jesus loves them and He is ever mindful of their needs. {Mk. 16:15-18
  • It’s Christian stewardship. We must be faithful stewards of our talents, gifts and graces. Every potential or gift is given to us to bring profit to the Kingdom of God. 19: 12-27; 1 Cort. 4: 1-2, 12: 4-31
  • It’s catching them young for Christ. We also have the mandate to reach out to kids, students and youths. ‘Catch them young for Christ’ is still a great ministerial philosophy. How do we reach out to young ones?
  • Launch out aggressive kids or students or youth ministry.
  • Organize programs that will keep on attracting the young’s. E.g. Fellowship, Summer Camp or Retreat, Love-Feast, Breakfast/dinner Meeting, Holiday Missions, Seminars & Workshops, Village Outreach, Bible Clubs, Coaching classes, & Vacation Bible School.

Reflection: What are your potentials? How you have been using them.

11. WHERE TO SERVE GOD

Mem.  Verse: Lk. 10:3

Prayer Point: Holy Spirit, come; cure me of all spiritual lameness and dumbness, and make me hot for Christ.

12. RADICALS FOR JESUS

TEXT: Rom. 8: 31 – 39

We all can become radicals for Jesus. It is the big step toward changing the world. But what does being a radical for Christ actually mean?

  1. It means following Jesus wherever He directs. Acts 4: 19-20
  2. It means multiplying the talents He has entrusted to us rather than burying them. 19: 12-27
  3. It means living, walking and operating by faith. (Hebr. 12: 2)
  4. It means rebelling against the idolatry kingdoms/background {1 KI. 17:1-2, 18: 17-18
  5. It is telling the testimony of His wonders in your life to others. 9: 13 – 34
  6. It means shining forth in righteousness and holiness on earth. 1 Pet. 1;13-19
  7. It means giving total obedience to the call of God upon our lives, like Elisha and Peter.
  8. It means standing up boldly for Christ even where others deny Him. We all can stand tall for Him like Elijah and Moses
  9. It means preaching Jesus boldly even when it is not convenient. Example of Paul.
  10. It means living as pilgrims on earth, preserving the eternal hope. {Rom. 13: 11 – 14}

Think-Out: Evaluate the life and ministry of one Jesus radical in the Bible.

Mem. Verse : Rom. 8: 37

Prayer Point: Holy Ghost, fill me and set me ablaze for Jesus.

14

SERVING AS A JESUS RADICAL

TEXT: Rom. 8: 31 – 39

  1. Jesus radicals serve God by serving the gospel with unreserved commitment, even when misunderstood, maligned and ignored.
  2. Jesus radicals serve God in the Spirit. This they do by allowing the Holy Spirit to direct their moments and movements, even when His plans negate theirs.
  3. They serve Jesus by following“…the LORD my God wholeheartedly”, and keep following in spite of hardship, wars, sufferings and seemingly unfulfilled promises. (Jos. 14: 8; Rom. 8: 28; Acts 16: 25-34)
  4. They serve God with burning passion. They are passionate about winning lost souls for the Christ, and about growing His gospel kingdom, about living holily; even when they have to invest their all. (Lk. 15:7; 14:7-8)
  5. Jesus radicals aren’t afraid of answering the call of God upon their lives, even a call into full-time service.
  6. They are fully devoted to whatever is committed into their hands because they see God’s service is the most important task on earth.
  7. Jesus radicals are not ashamed of identifying with Christ anywhere, anytime.  {Mk. 8: 34 – 38

Transformation Discourse: What could be the secret to spiritual radicalism?

Mem Verse: 2 Tim. 1:8

Prayer Point:  Give me this world to win for you, Lord Jesus

15. THE LIFESTYLE OF JESUS RADICAL

TEXT: Rom. 8: 31 – 39

As a servant leader, the lifestyle of a Jesus radical can best understood in the following lights:

  1. He is lowly, submissive, compliance and obedience.
  2. He lives for what profits the gospel and the church; not for self-esteem, riches, or comfort.
  3. He readily and willingly gives His all to “The Lord” of all authority, power, dominion and majesty.
  4. He devotes his life to the declaration of God’s counsel, with a perseverance, faith and obedience. {Acts 20:27; Gal. 2:12; Hebr. 10:38}.
  5. He teaches not by what is popular or easily accepted but divine revelation. 1 Tim 3: 2; 2 Tim 1:13
  6. He boldly proclaims Jesus. II Tim 4: 2
  7. He shamelessly organizes open air campaign, village outreach, hospital &prison outing, hall meeting, house fellowship & school mission. (Acts 5:18, 16:37; 19:9) .

Mem.  Verse: 1 Tim. 6: 12

Prayer Point – Lord, kindle your pure flame in me, make me aggressive vessel of the gospel.

16. SUCCESS IN DIVINE SERVICE

Text: HEBR 11: 1-40

We all have burning passion for success in life. Many of us passionately pray for good success in works, careers, business, education, etc. But how many truly desire to succeed in serving the Lord? Success in divine service is a possibility. We can succeed if we really love God and seek His face for the needed grace and unction. How do we go about our desire for successes in God’s works?

1.      We must be right with God. The Christian service will be successful if we dare to live for God, in obedience, purity and righteousness.

2.      We must be fully consecrated. Consecration is a secret we all must discover.  Why? God provided blessings are only available to those who can pay the price of consecration, commitment and sacrifice.

3.      We must be anointed with the Holy Ghost.   Succeeding in God’s service is much connected to the anointing of the Spirit. Word, Graces and Gifts are usually set on fire by the Anointing.  {Acts 1:8; 1 Cort. 2:4, 5; Rom. 1:16 -17}

4.      We must be well grounded in the word of truth. Get clear understanding of the word. Don’t just pick knowledge from media ministers. Study the Bible and understand its doctrines. The WORD  is the ministry. {Matt 13:3-9, 18-23; 1 Pet 1:22, 23; Acts 2:38; 22:16; 17:30; Mark 16:16; Rom. 10:9, 10}

Transformation Discourse: How does a false teaching bear negative effects on our success?

Mem Verse: Josh 1:8

Prayer Point: Father, empower me for success in your vineyard.

17. SUCCESS IN DIVINE SERVICE 2

Text: HEBR 11: 1-40

5.      We must be victorious over every trial and temptation: God is able and faithful to give us victory if we dare to trust Him. But we must put on the whole armour of God.  [Eph 6:10-18;  1 Jn 1:8,10; Jms 4:7; 2 Cor. 10:4,5; Jude 24; Rom 8:31-39; Heb. 11:34; I Cort 10:13]

6.     We must come to the place of believing in His divine promises and supplies: God is able to supply all our needs. He promised He would and our faith must be alive, resting on His promises. We must come to the faith that:

  • We can abound in good work. Yes, we can be good, kind, loving, holy and consecrated.
  • We can triumph over barren, unfruitful spirit to live a prosperous life. [2 Cort 9:8-10.]
  • We can accomplish much good for God. All we need doing is to we make use of His power and grace. {Rm. 15:14; 2 Thess. 1:11,12; 1 Pet 4:11; 2 Tim. 1:7,8; 2 Cor. 1:4}
  • We can obtain God’s diverse blessings. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. Eph 3:20, 21; Phil 4:13; 1 Pet 1:3-5; 2 Pet 1:3

Transformation Discourse:  Mention two other keys to success

Mem Verse: Hebr. 11: 1-2

Prayer Point:  Holy Spirit of power & prosperity, come upon me.

18. REASONS FOR FAILURE IN SERVICE

Why do some people failed in serving God? Why are so many casualties in the battle field of God’s royal service? Let’s examine a few major reasons here:

  1. Many failed because they are not well trained to fight the enemy. To become able soldiers of the Cross, we need be well trained for the war. Sons of Eli & Absalom
  2. Some other failed because they are not fully armed with God’s provided armour.  Only God’s whole armour guarantees devil’s defeat. Solomon & Samson, Nadab & Abihu
  3. Several failed because they wouldn’t use the whole armor of God properly. To win the victory, we must follow the instruction in the Bible. King David & Elijah
  4. Countless people failed because they wouldn’t fight with God’s most powerful new covenant weaponry. We need greater anointing and stronger weapons to win the enemy who fights with sophisticated weapons. Ananias & Sapphira
  5. Numerous failed in the defense of faith because they aren’t focused and diligent soldiers in the wartime. Samson & King Saul
  6. Failure comes when we fight with little spiritual power. You can’t go to war with strength so little and return with trophy. Korah, Dathan & Abiram
  7. A lot of people failed because all they fought with yesterday’s anointing. Garnering fresher anointing is vital to growing in God’s power. King Saul versus Goliath
  8. Lots still fail because their hearts are clad with pride, and greed and avarice. Balaam, Gehazi & Judas

When we speak about New Covenant weapons, we need to know how they come to us and how we can draw the voltage into our individual life to serve and war as Christ’s soldiers. We need be armed with each of the followings:

  2. The gospel– The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation. We need to know and declare it to see it working as power. {Rom. 1: 16; 1 Cor. 1: 18}
  3. The Word: To rout devil’s forces, we must be well armed with this offensive weapon. {Jos 1:7, 8 ; Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor. 1:18 ; Jam 1:21-25; Acts 18:27,28; 20:32; Rom. 15:4, 14; 2 Tim. 3:15-17.}
  4. The Blood of Jesus: This is a living and mighty new covenant force. {1 Cort 1:18, 23, 24; Hebr 7:25; 9:14; Acts 8:22; 1 Jn 1:9).
  5. The Holy Ghost: He is the power of the highest. We need the Anointing to love and work with demonstration of God’s life and power to the world. {Jhn 7:37-39, Lk. 4: 18-19; Acts 1:8, 2: 1-4}

Others Include:

  1. Faith –
  2. Divine Fire – Acts 2:1-4
  3. The God’s Love: Eph. 3:16, 17 – 21; 1 John 4:9, 19; 5:3; Jn 14:15.
  4. Prayer: 6:18; Psalms 138:3; James 5:16; 1 Peter 5:7, 8
  5. Hope of Eternal Life: 2 Pet 1:8-11; 1 Cor. 9:25; Matt. 6:24, 33; 1 Pet 1:3-5; Acts 20:32; Jude 24]

THE CHRISTIAN WORKER -BY PASTOR B. B. JOHN, JOSEPH

  1. Because believer who lacks sense of responsibility is often a minus to the gospel. He causes harm to the Kingdom values. {Vs. 1- 5; Acts  5: 1-10}
  2. Because the irresponsible worker often inflicts negative impact on the soul winning mandate – i.e. the great commission. {Vs. 6 – 8, Mark 16:15}
  3. Because those irresponsible ones among us mostly do God’s work in their own ways, as if it is that of man. {Vs. 12 – 15}
  4. Because only those who are responsible Christians can pay the cost of working with God. The non-responsible ones can only work for God and not with Him.  {Vs. 9 – 11}

  2. The person who works with a loyal, faithful and truthful spirit. He is honest, trustworthy and accountable to his senior/boss in church or ministry. {  Tim. 1: 14; 1 Cort. 3: 13 -15; {1 Sam. 12: 24}
  3. That meek, humble and lowly fellow. You will always found him teachable, responsive, and answerable both to God and his superior in all his doings.

  2. It rests on Christian allegiance to God’s and His delegated leadership. {Eph. 4: 10 – 13}
  3. It implies standing with, for, and up for your leader. You are to be loyal to him and to his divinely given mission or vision. {Vs. 15 – 18}
2 Tim. 3:14
  6. It means not forsaking the vision/work even when you have reason to do so. { 2 Tim. 1:8, 16; 4: 16; }

Transformation Discourse:

How dangerous, rebellious, divisive, heartbreaking and judgmental could disloyalty in the church/ministry be? Beautify your answer with Biblical examples. {2 Tim. 1; 15; Numb. 16}

  1. God places graces and unction on His appointed leader for the benefit of all who submit to his leadership. {Lk 4: 18 -19}
  2. God only appoints assistants/associates into supportive positions to serve as vision-Helpers, like Aaron, Joshua, Elisha, Gehazi, and 12 disciples.
  3. He who is rude, disobedient, or disloyal to the leader is counted as being rebellious to God who appointed him. {Read Numb. 16}

  1. Loyalty never stabs the leader in the back. Every loyal worker knows it is unwise, rebellious and dangerous to do so. {Vs. 10, 14 – 18}

  1. By being spiritually minded in the pursuit of our individual calling: Stay spiritual and beware of any forms of hypocrisy and dishonesty. {Josh. 22: 5}

  2. By showing good respect to those who built you up: Every disciple maker deserves loyalty and a great deal of appreciation for building converts up by words and examples. { Hebr. 13:7}
  3. By expressing gratitude to our ministry leaders: These should be blessed with repeated gratitude, even from those who wandered off. {2 Tim. 3: 10, 14 – 17; 1 Tim. 4: 6}
14; 1 Tim. 4: 16)
